My advice is to have it professionally cut and buffed out.  The issue with painting at home is many.  The biggest problem is the gun.  Most folks go out and purchase a HVLP gun because they are widely available and you lost the battle right there.  If you start out with a conventional spray gun a gravity feed or siphon type a novice do it yourselfer can achieve amazing glass like results.  The current laws prohibit use of conventional paint guns for commercial use but anyone else that use one is ok.  Air caps for say a Devilbiss pro-lite can be converted in 20 seconds to conventional by just screwing on the T110 air cap. they atomize the air way way better and use low volume high pressure.  Most DIY types do not even come close to having the proper size air compressor let alone the high flow hose connectors to do the job right.  All HVLP spray guns leave an orange peel on the finish. A professional body shop knows which type and gun setting to use so they can match a particular car manufacturers finish all are different.  By using a conventional type paint spray gun on a newer car will not match the factory orange peel and standout.  But on a classic show car, a flat finish is desirable.  Conventional spay guns use a lot less CFM so a 5 hp compressor will work just fine.
