Can anyone here tell me if the headlamp adapters were originally painted body color, or were they perhaps blacked out?  That car color is EW1 Spinnaker White.

My working theory would be black, only because I believe items like that were not assembled to the car prior to painting. It's a bolt on item, unlike the 1970's that were spot welded on. They likely bolted them on as an assembly with the bulb, and changed to that method after 71 to maximize adjustment capabilities.... just my thoughts.

@anlauto thanks for that.  I take it that you mean blackout black with no sheen?

Mine (74 Challenger) were unpainted and in the natural white metal grey, and so were the other 2 sets I've had. Just my  :alan2cents:

I have a pair for sale, and with the surface rust on them,  I would say they were bare originally.

Mrbill426

Yeah that would explain the rust on mine.

Well there you go then, those look pretty darn original to me and if there's no sign of black, then I stand corrected and a bare metal finish is more accurate. :alan2cents:
