How is stainless steel trim bent?

In particular, the grille moulding for a 72-74 Challenger. I'm assuming that this stuff is extruded. How is it bent into shape without collapsing the moulding?

It's aluminum so I'm guessing it's press formed

There is probably a special die mold and it is stamped out in one shot that would be my guess.

I am not sure either. Joel At Metro had the tool for this until a barbeque fire burnt the warehouse and that tool. Never rebuilt it but he may be redoing them now.

I usually bend mine by leaving them on the roof or deck and then knocking them off to stand on them. Works for me!

Yep, or trying to polish them and the buffing wheel catches an edge.  That will bend them in a hurry.
