I was not happy with the AMD front fenders on I put on my '70 'Cuda couple weeks back and took the advice here and searched for some locally and got really lucky - found a pair of very straight, very rust free fenders that need minimal work.  Question for the metal experts guys here -

Both fenders had the front lower sections robbed of a small section, I was told to repair another car years ago.  Questions is should I be looking for a patch panel to section in, or fab up some custom sheet metal?  Just wondering which direction you would go in my shoes?

I still have the AMD fenders but would hate to cut those up if it can be avoided....
You can't buy happiness, but you can buy horsepower and that's kind of the same thing.....

Super easy pieces to fab up and weld in. You can use the AMD's as a pattern though before you get rid of them. I much prefer factory sheetmetal too. I've had a few issues with AMD myself, generally need tweaking, much better than most aftermarket metal though.

@RUNCHARGER that is exactly what I was thinking......  thanks!  I just didn't like the "feel" of the AMD fenders, seemed like if you look at them crooked they get an impression in them - too thin IMHO.  You can feel the difference in weight of the originals.

I was pretty happy to drive 2+ and find they are in excellent shape - no rot or dents even, just those 2 missing small sections.

I always keep junk factory panels around to use for cutting patches as I know it`s the original gage thickness but any hardware store sells pieces of metal to patch them up.

@torredcuda that was sort of the question - worth trying to find patch panels or just fab something up - if you have anything lying around I would be interested in buying......

To clarify I use old panels from different models just to cut out and fab up my own patch panels - sometimes I get lucky and find  a section that has contours that are close to what I need but usually just have to hammer and dolly to fit.
