I am wondering if it is possible that a 1974 Cuda would not have these "box" type down stops on the quarter glass track? (pic from ebay)
I could not find these anywhere with the quarter glass mechanism when I went to recondition them last year. Course I did not take any pics before removing those mechs 20 years ago, but I was pretty good at leaving stuff semi-assembled for later. Last year I came to the conclusion that these were not present at the time I took them out - not just their absence but also because there was no signs of any bolts or nuts being fastened through the corresponding holes on the track.
Now getting ready to install them ... thought maybe I should check my theory here.
They are shown in the 1974 FSM and in the parts book - that's what got my attention last year.
But looking more closely, there is an adjustable down stop built into the regulator - and searching pics here and on line most of the ones I see do not seem to have this down stop set up in the regulator. Attached pic of mine - both the same - referring to the slot screw with lock nut and quarter sized "cam" or weight on the right of the driven gear plate.
There is a post I did find on Moparts.org speculating with and without this weight being hard top vs convertible - someone had one of each - but I wonder if it is a model year difference?
I also just noticed today, that the parts book still shows the up stop attached to the body metal (item 35 in the 70/71 parts book) - where the service manual only seems to show the up stop that is on the track. In this case I only have the one on the track - and looking at the mounting points on the top of the quarter which were not repainted - it does not look like anything was ever fastened there although the mounting holes seem to be there.
Wondering if these box down stops and body mounted up stops were determined to be redundant and removed at some point? Mine is a later '74 car - February.
I guess I'll find out if everything works without them when I install it but some reassurance before I go there would help my confidence  :dunno:
Thanks

I don't dabble with 74 too often, but that certainly is weird...I have come across rear tracks without that stopped bracket before though..

So I installed them and they work perfectly. I never touched those regulator mounted down stop cams when I cleaned up the mechanism and they stop perfectly in the right position still - so no other down stop needed it seems. The upstops were removed and will need final adjustment once the weather stripping is installed. Interesting to note the plastic up stop tube mounted on the quarter glass is still included in this 1974 set - but it seems to hit the top of the quarter directly. Final upstop adjustment will be with the stop in the track.
