Installing Lt side full quarter panel on 70 challenger. Need to know what was used to fill gap of the seam where the quarter panel and the rear deck filler panel are attached. Was it seam sealer or something else? The gap for Rt quarter panel and rear deck filler panel still has the filler material. It is hard but that could be due to age. I ruled out lead because heat was not needed to melt the material to remove Lt quarter panel from deck panel. Any help would be appreciated.

Seam sealer, after running a bead of it in that area, squirt a little brake clean on your finger while wearing a latex glove and use your finger to shape the seam sealer with the slight indent you see on the original on the other sode.

Lacquer thinner works to smooth seam sealer as well. We used metal to metal filler.

My body man used some kind of fiberglass filter. Not regular fiberglass, but something made for bodywork. It's been 13 years since it was installed and no cracking or lifting, etc. I'll ask him exactly what he used and report back

Okay, my body man said he used "Upol fibral
Or Ebercoat everglass

Both are good."

We use Lord Fusor 804HD or 800DTM for seam sealing, excellent stuff. Apply with caulking gun, then smooth with finger coated with either lacquer thinner (evaporates fast) OR wax and grease remover (slower evaporation).
