Just wanted to get some feedback on a shipment of a hood and trunk that arrived fedex truck yesterday. The trunk has a bent lip on pass side along from the leading back about 3" long. Doesn't look to hard to fix. The hood has a similar bend driver side towards rear of lid. The more concerning thing is there is a barely perceptible dip in the 4" in from side extending front to back several inches. At its deepest about 1/8" . It's mostly noticeable with a straight edge across it. It has no crease and but I found it with my hand. I'm not of the mind to go through all the headache of trying to return it because I know it can be fixed. What do you guys think?

That's a tough call. If it's VERY minor is fix it . Shipping something like that could be a lot worse. The drivers care but the loaders could care less.

I'd take lots of pictures call Summit inform them of the situation and see if they will discount the parts enough to make the repairs? I've done that before, not with Summit but it was a good compromise for both parties.

My opinion is that’s a bad spot for the trunk edge to be bent it’s fairly easy to make it look good from the top but when the trunk is open and your looking at the edge it may be tough to make that edge appear uniform and crisp maybe I’m wrong but I personally find areas like that difficult and time consuming personally I think you will spend some time on bodywork also remember you will have ding marks on the inside of the panels as well that will show when open I would bite the bullet and get new straight panels you will save time in the long run

Why is this even a discussion? File a claim with Fed Ex and it should all be taken care of... Help me understand why you would even attempt to fix a new part that was damaged in transport?

My thoughts exactly, send it back.

:iagree: Yep, make that 3 votes to send back- on FedEx's nickle, too.

I had an AMD trunk lid just like this....+2 other defects.

Bodyshop told me to send it back. Why question it?

AMDs packaging is of jokes for stuff like this.
