Tab on AMD roof skin

The new roof skin has this tab on both sides of the rear window.  Do these have a purpose?  Looks like something that I should trim off.

To Me they look like hangers for the e coating process.

They wont look to good under your glass

Just another thought when your ready to paint remember to black out the entire lip area so you don't see splotchy color under the glass.

I would trim it and also trim the new edge back to match the existing edge underneath.
