Looking for tech support on how the trunk hinges and rods are supposed to be set up correctly? all the parts are there but the trunk won't stay open and is not even. Is there a diagram procedure?

The first photo is taken from passenger side.  From by the rear fender looking toward the trunk hinge.  The second picture is from the drivers side.  From the center of the trunk towards the hinge/drivers rear 1/4.  The last picture just shows that only one side is "spring" loaded.

Not sure why my photos I post on here go sideways all the time.  Hopefully you can figure it out with the sideways photos.

Drivers side looks right, the passenger side does not look like it is in the slot at the top of the bracket

What is the indexing for the rod for does it matter? my lid closes and we got it pretty much aligned and stays up etc. but I see the 3 slots for indexing the rod is that for stiffness?

Yes - the slots change the lifting force from the rods.   I changed mine to adjust for the added weight of a spoiler.  If I recall correctly, moving towards the slot closer to the deck lid increases the lifting force.  Whichever way is harder is the way you want to go.
