For YEARS I've been preaching about buying a "done" car and not knowing what you're getting. Buying a car you think looks nice only to find out that there's bad stuff hiding....  :vipermanhiding:

Here's my latest example....back fresh from Techno-Strip....

This repair was done by a "friend" :o back in the very early 70's after the original owner's original wife (now ex) went and dented his new car :pullinghair:

Wow but the upside is you have original metal there...
Life is to be viewed thru the windshield. Not rear view mirror.

Here's what was hiding on my T/A.  Low mile car originally from OK.  Very little rust, but a nice little patch of 70s-era collision repair.  Rocker was stoved in with a couple pounds of filler to make it right.

I have an "NOS take-off" (LoL) D/S quarter and trunk floor from a 71 Challenger that was rolled in 1971.  The car should have been totaled, but there weren't any new ones available to replace it so the owner had it repaired.  The body shop brazed the replacement panels over portions of the original panels. Check out that quality work on sectioning-in the trunk floor (NOS portion was on the D/S).  Love the 4th Class mail shipping tag on the 1/4 panel.

That car was restored to a very high level with another round of NOS parts and sold a couple times over the years.  Years back I saw it listed for sale "...wearing all of its original sheet metal"   :haha:

DANG Techno-Strip's hard on a car .........   :haha:

Thanks "JS29", Im not sure I needed to know that. Where were you back in 1973 when I needed some advice on dent repair. I am sure that I could have done a better job even though I don't weld or do body work.

The other side of that is it was repaired in 73 & still looked reasonable 46 years later.... A new fender back then was $60... But a quart of Bondo was $1.50... That left 58.50 for gas & beer....

One clue; the door is a different shade of green when compared to the fender! :wrenching:

Ground down the filler on my left lower back quarter panel
Someone chose to brass braze a very poorly fitting patch and cover with bondo
:wrenching: :o

Here is what the backside looked like!
