Is anyone planning on going to Carlisle? We talked before Covid about all driving together. Currently we need a test to return. It's an inconvenience for sure but is it a deterrent? If the testing requirement is dropped would you go then?

To answer the question, as of right now I have no intention of going, testing or no testing.

I would like to go, but if it's going to be a hassle to get across the border, I'd rather stay home. Hopefully we won't be in the next wave with a bunch of lockdowns again when the time comes...this pandemic in NOT over yet  :alan2cents:

no plans to go this year.

Planning to see how this year shakes out and then decide if I go next year.

I want to go to Carlisle this year. Need to get out with the car and meet some like-minded friends!

If things continue to progress I think it will be easier to travel across the border and likely will not have to get a PCR test before coming back into Canada.  I had to travel to Las Vegas in November for business and it was a pain. It should be easier once Carlisle rolls around.

Let's have a checkpoint in another month.  :canada:

Some Canadians made it down with cars for MCACN last November.
Covid magically seems to have vanished here in recent weeks.  Hope the same happens up north soon!

There's actually always been less here...just a large number of Canadians seem to be happy with being locked down.
Perhaps afraid of what will happen if not locked down...Go figure.

It didn't disappear here due to any medical breakthroughs ie the vaccines or treatments or "ta science".
It disappeared most likely because the primaries are coming soon and the election next fall.  Funny how that works!
In the history of infectious disease, I've never heard of one transmitted by airborne germs where people were being infected in outdoor environments.  Yet the powers to be had most everyone scared beyond the point of not being able to think rationally.  I went to Moparty in 2020 along with one local show in October that wasn't canceled, and there were some people telling me that was crazy risky me and others doing that.  No, they were outdoor activities in sun and breeze, no risk at all.
I still see a few people out driving alone in their car wearing a mask, or riding a bike or walking alone masked.
So yes, you are correct, there are some people who wish to be locked up forever and sadly will never feel comfortable out in public again thanks to all the fear mongering over the last couple years.  Too bad for them, but they need to get out the way and let the rest of us get back to living. :alan2cents:
Go to Carlisle, it is food for your mental health!

Highly disagree with the use of that adjective.

And here we go again. A simple question was merely asked and now it's veering political.   :Thud:

Agreed. Do we really need to go there.

Besides what do you care if someone choses to wear a mask and protect themselves and others.  How does that impact you.

I do plan to go but early to commit for sure. If the Cuda is done though I will not take it this year - too early in the second life after a home restoration (ie I have made mistakes before LOL). With the blood and $weat I have in that car I'm not sure I'll ever get the nerve to drive it that far. I do hope to take it to Moparfest this year.
For Carlisle I'll bring my '85 Daytona again if I go - probably not popular here but that car is a blast to drive and there are very few of them around. I drove my 2010 SRT to Thunder Bay once for kicks - it was a blast - that was after the EForce kit went on - but the few stone chips I picked up made me leery of long trips with a nice paint job. The Daytona used to be a daily driver - original paint still but has chips and touch ups already.
We just came back from Florida - the testing is no big deal - Walgreens does it for free - just book it on line and drive through - use the hotel as US address. Get the NAAT test (not the PCR) - it is a valid molecular test (now they accept RAT too but harder to get certified). NAAT results within 24 hours - and valid for 72 from test time - just need to book 24-48 hours before you come back.

Just what I hear/observe from people locally...I didn't mention politics.....nothing political intended?

I don't care one way or the other. I have no issue with anyone wearing a mask if they wish. Doesn't impact me at all.

Hey @dodj my comment was not aimed at you.  I did not think what you said was political at all.

@Cuda jason  :twothumbsup:

Just FYI.  I live very close to the Minnesota border and a business on the Minnesota side has a place set up to do tests for people going to/returning to Canada. You pop in and get tested, get your results in 15-20 minutes then it's a short drive to the border. Last I heard it was $35. Must be similar entrepreneurs at other border crossings?
So if you go to Carlisle the testing should be pretty easy to get? And not too expensive.
Might cost you $1,000 in gas though...lol...2 bucks a litre up here now.
