When I was still in high school, I bought a '37 Dodge 4 dr for $75 and I'd've paid a whole $100 for a coupe like this! LOL All joking aside, this thing IS in nice shape.

A friend of mine at work, young guy around 30, bought a 37 or 38 Dodge businessmans coupe at the Mecum auction here in 2018.  He paid around 18K for it.  Original paint and runs great.  He drove it to a show 60 miles from his home a week after he bought it!   And since then he's driven it all over, even to Woodward in Michigan.
Pretty cool someone driving a 80 year old car hundreds of miles.  He's got bigger stones than me, I'm too much of a worrier to trust a vintage ride for long haul.  Maybe in a caravan or Power Tour type situation with the support and backup that would provide, but not solo like he does.  :stayinlane:

I don't know if brave is quite the word. more like knowledgeable maybe? Those old cars were built to last and if they're in decent condition and you're not abusing that 80 year old car, there's no reason to suspect it'd break down any more than your old K car. I'd be another of those dare devils if I'd've kept my old gal. Good on him!

@jimynick  I would be more worried the some one would run in to it.  :alan2cents:

He drove the car to a girlfriends 4th of July block party a couple summers back, and while he was corrousing with the adults, some punk kid shot fireworks at his car and damaged the paint!  :verymad:
He was afraid that the original paint car would need repainting, but thankfully a shop was able to buff out and touch up the damage.
He drove his 62 Catalina up to that huge hot rod show in MN a while back and the starter or electrical system acted up there.  He was able to nurse the car the close to 400 mile trip home, never able to shut it down for fear of not being able to start it, so he'd refuel with it running and I don't know what he did about bathroom breaks.  Another time his 78 Corvette started acting up while driving to work and ended up broke down in front of our office with a locked up tranny.
He gives me a hard time for "never driving my car" which translated means never drive it as a daily driver to work and such, I drive my cars to cruises and shows all the time.  But the thought of driving my car 25 miles in Chicago rush hour traffic, not being able to keep an eye on it parked in the lot, worrying if it will rain and storm for the drive home, etc makes doing that appeal to me about as much as ripping my fingernails out with a pair of pliers!
To each his own, but I'm too much of a worrier to drive my vintage cars other than in what I call low risk situations.
