I love those Willy's.  Always wanted to build a gasser but never found the right one at a reasonable price.  Now they are all too much money.  Love the movie Hot Rod Rebel Of The Road.  Loved the Gasser in it.  Can't go wrong with a Hemi in a Willy's gasser.   :ohyeah:

I don't know boys. While a hard core Mopar guy, and a believer in the hemi in one; back in the 60's there was a guy who used to run one at Grand Bend dragstrip and he had a fuel injected, roller cammed sbc in it. I remember him pulling a giant wheelie with it in the staging lanes and pulling down the PA wiring with his front bumper as he did, and it's something that I admired then and still do.

Decent deals are still out there. My business partner just picked up this turn key Willys for 40k. Tuned Ported Fuel Injected 350 chevy/Turbo 400 with a ford nine-inch. He's going to ditch the fuel injection and install a Blower shortly. This Pandemic stuff is suspected for the price. Saving the Hemi for the 1970 Charger.

But is it an all steel car or glass?

Daveh

If it was steel it was a deal.  I like it.  I would install a 4-speed raise the front for the gasser look and head to the track.

Anybody has a 41 Willy's they are interested in getting rid of let me know.

Willy Gasser's look were Historically known as drag racers.

Automatic Trans with a stall converter added, and a big gear in the back was what they were old school mostly back in the day.  :alan2cents:

there was an old original gasser for sale on Ebay here in NJ maybe 1-2 years ago, all steel, BB chev powered. I think it was named like the "purple grape" or something like that. Sold for around  40 something k. Came pretty close to throwing a serious bid on that one.

Yup, that one rings a bell.

Willy's were a fav of mine back as a Kid. Hotwheel was probably why.

Glass. He's been looking for a steel one for years. No luck. I myself would prefer a Gasser rather than a Street Rod. ('55 Chevy Gasser preferred.)

Nope, but I know that car. They've been at Grand Bend over the years and my boys actually got to sit in the red car one time. They're also cousins of our friend Terry Hishon. The one I remember was dark blue and for some reason, I seem to recall that the guy said it was a '38 with a '41 front end on it. It'd rev like nothing you ever heard before and I've pined over it lo, these many years.  ;)
