Late 80's mid 90's maybe....at least 30 years ago, after all it is 2021 almost 2022 now

2003 purchased an AAR, column shift, bench, EF8 for $26k.  Not the most desirable set of options color.  More desirable AAR's were going for $35k at the time.

I would say late 80s to early to maybe the mid 90s era was the last time a real nice AAR might have been obtainable for 25 grand.
Consider inflation in comparisons, the dollar has lost at least 50% of its value in the last 25 years, therefore 25K in 1995 is 50K or more in 2021 dollars. So at best that would mean AARs have appreciated 50% in the last 25-30 years, which isn't especially remarkable.

2003 purchased an AAR, column shift, bench, EF8 for $26k.  Not the most desirable set of options color.  More desirable AAR's were going for $35k at the time.

In 2005 there was a local guy here who had a B5 440 Daytona and a F8 AAR which I believe was 4 speed but it's been a long time so not sure.  He put both cars in one of the big auctions and was real excited the Daytona brought a then record sale of $250K.  He was disappointed the AAR only brought 50K and blamed the color for the "low" sales price.
Prices did dip a lot after a run up in the late 80s and early 90s, and weren't really recovering at a good clip until sometime in the 2000-2006 period where things went crazy and the Mopar boards were buzzing with talk of absurd prices cars were hammering for at all the big auctions.

Awesome reality check! The best post I've read in 2021! Bar none!  I got my T/A in 1982 for $2300 in Vancouver . Washington.  The owner worked at a Pizza Hut. In the spirit of full disclosure: My parents bought it for me. I was nineteen, still living at home. Couldn't afford as much as a Big Mac...

That's a coincidence, I paid $2300 for my T/A too!  It was late 1978 and I'd been looking for an AAR or T/A for 3 or 4 months after getting my license with about $2500 in the bank I'd saved up since I was in Junior high.
I'd looked at a mint 36,000 mile AAR a month earlier but the ask was $3600 and no way I was going to bargain the guy down to what I could afford.
My T/A had maybe 47,000 miles but some rust, ripped front seats, cracked dash, and mag wheels but it was in my budget!
I had recently started a part time job at a grocery store at $3.50 an hour, minimum wage was $2.75 if I recall, and gas had just jumped up to 70-75c a gallon for premium.
To adjust for inflation multiply all my figures by 4 or a bit over 4 to get approximately equivalent 2021 dollars.
