That guys needs to lay off the crack pipe.

It's likely a $10-$12K project so I don't think he's too far off....a little optimistic for sure, but you got to start somewhere  :dunno:

Half of that price would be enough.

There's a lot of rust hiding in that car.

That's seems generous. Usually I'm the guy arguing that a car is worth more than others think.

I could be wrong but this seems like a $6k to $8k car at best. My reasoning is:

1) It's a Challenger rather than a Barracuda
2) it's a 71 rather than a 70
3) it's a base 318 car rather than an RT or at least a 383 car.
4) it's an auto rather than stick
5) it has no unusual options
6) it needs a trunk floor, interior floor, and roof skin. At minimum, the right quarter needs lots of love up by the roof joint and more at the bottom. Seeing how badly the driver footwell rusted out, expect to find major rust at the firewall and hinge pillar. Given that much rust, I'd expect to find a lot more throughout the car.

If today's e body market supports this car being worth that much than I should fetch a great price on my 70 RT when I put it up for sale soon.

Some times my comments are misunderstood....I don't think it's worth $10K-$12K, I agree it's likely only worth $5K HOWEVER there always seems to be more people wanting these cars then there are cars available....so it will likely sell for $10K-$12K to an energic kid that thinks it will be a cheap cool car to fix up. :alan2cents:

Great car for a resto-mod as well :dunno:

dont get me wrong though, I think all e body cars should be saved if possible. I just think this seller is not being realistic.

Here's a car that just popped up on eBay and to me, it's a much better starting point for only a tiny bit more. I bet this one could be had at 16k. His buy it now is 19 but the right buyer could make the deal happen for less I'm sure.

As far as 1971 Challengers go this is by far the best value if the car was done right :alan2cents:

And it's best offer too....
