Most of those wing cars are from the same collector in Georgia.

If you go to the Kissimmee Mecum site and go down to the Lindley collection, you can see more pictures of the Cuda along with more cars coming out of the same collection.  Looking   at the pictures, the cars are showing Georgia license plates with the Dawson county on them.  I live the next county over from them and never heard of them or the owner.

There is a total of twelve cars coming through from his collection.  Some very desirable pieces all going off at a no reserve.

Interesting enough, 45 miles North of me, Gary Edwards is bringing 16 cars to the auction as well.  Included in his collection going up for sale, is the cars once owned by Dave Walden.

Gary and his wife have graciously allowed me to view their collection and it was an unreal collection of wing cars and others.  I hate to see the collection get busted up as it is most probably the most highly detailed and sought after group of wing cars under one roof.  But at least, with them most probably going to a variety of different new homes, more people may be able to see them.  Gary and his wife have really studied the background of the wing cars and their passion to pursue the best of the best, has rewarded them with this collection.

Here is a Youtube video of the Gary Edwards collection.

Cannot wait to see this auction, there is a number of other high end Mopars scheduled to go up as well.  Hopefully we can see some of guys in Kissimmee in January.

I'm most interested in what the 4 door Barracuda will bring :bigmoney: I could see someone like Jay Leno or The Brothers stepping up :takemymoney:

You really wonder who is the collector interested in a car like the 4 door Barracuda.
It's a custom so I don't see a collector like Leno or the Brothers having any interest in something like this. They collect stock original cars.
Whatever the case, even if I had all the money in the world the car does nothing for me!

Jay likes unique things, that's why I thought of him....The brothers....I don't know much about them, but they seem to have a lot of money to throw around...

I'm more curious about how much it will fetch...Dave Waldon used to openly admit (brag almost) that he had three quarters of a million dollars invested in the build....I don't know what Gary would have paid for it, but I think it will be interesting to see what it sells for...

It would have been nice if the Waldon family had of auction the cars off for a charity or something, but that opportunity has passed

I made my opinion about the car pretty loud and clear back when it was being built... ;)

It's like the story with a lot of more "conventional" custom cars.  Someone can toss a fortune into the build, and it's their baby, but how do you value it? And does their vision and dream realized strike a chord with anyone with deep pockets and a hole in their garage to fill?
All of us in the car hobby have seen customs that sell for a fraction of what it's owner "invested".
Dave was a perfectionist and set a bar with his OE builds that may well not ever be exceeded. But I always wondered if there was another side of the story beyond a perfectionist with deep pockets.  Since he ran a business making repro parts, was he able to write off the costs of his builds as promotional investments, product development and advertising for ECS?
