Not a bad price, New York ad. Wonder what it looks like underneath.  :alan2cents:

RUNCHARGER

Yup: That would be worth a personal inspection for sure.

If it's not a scam ad, I think it will sell pretty fast  :alan2cents:

Went and had a look today. The for sale sign in the windshield said 32.5k or bo. After negotiating back and forth I said I'd pay that price actually I said how about 33k then?.  He told me he doesn't know if he'd take the 35k listed on this craigslist ad just that it had to be at least that price a starting price and then he'd need a day or two to think about it.  He seemed like a good guy, but I traveled 3 hours and brought cash. When he turned me down I turned to him and said you have a lot more interest in this car?  Then he said since he talked with me at 8am he'd had big offers and interest all over the country. I wish he had called me on route I would have passed, I don't operate that way. I would have sold it to a person that brought cash, but that's just me lol.  The car was fairly decent has a few bubbles on the hood and here and there. The rear end looked like something had leaked on it and a little of the same motor and tranny, but these old cars tend to leak over time lol.

Under carriage was not too bad a little surface rust in spots, but considering the resto was at least 20 years ago in New York State you have to expect that and he drives it. Took me for a spin and had her out last week, so salt doesn't  seem to worry him. Even though I brought cash he would not let me drive her.  Personally I think for a clone car 30 -35k is top dollar. There was a 71 black clone 340/4 speed 2 weeks ago near Reading, PA on FB marketplace that was similar to this car that started at 35k went down to 30 and they told me 28k would buy her. I wish I'd made the 6 hour trip, but with the Holiday I could not make it. I've seen a few others and even bought a nice real 71 bs cuda last year for less than both these clones, but I thought I'll buy one that's more what I'm looking for in color and sell my real cuda  rather than strip mine down and paint her black.  Well just wasn't meant to be all and all I'm ok with it, but I would have took the 32.5k for sale sign out of the window lol.

@Drive In Cars  It usually the buyer that wastes the sellers time, not the other way around.  :verymad: I probably Would have thanked him for wasting my time!  :foul:

No I just shook his hand and he said he was sorry I traveled that far. When I was leaving he tried to give me his card because he thought I might know somebody that might want his Roadrunner that is also for sale which I do have a friend looking, but I did not take his card I simply said I don't think I'll be making this trip again but thank you for showing me the car.

That's too bad. Honestly It can be tough buying and selling these days. He knew you were enoute though.

It's a shame he was a jerk about it....it was only his greed that over took his ability to make a good deal....I think he should have told you first on the phone his bottom dollar. If he wanted no less then $35K....that should have been expressed before you left home.

I have a car for sale right now as well. I answer all the inquires letting them know my bottom dollar....I've yet to get a second email from them...which is okay with me. I don't want to waste my time showing the car to someone who thinks they can low ball me....I want what I want and that's it.

Oh by the way this car has sold.  I'd love to ask the buyer who had to pay at least 35k if the seller took the sign out of the window with the asking price of 32k lol ?

Maybe the sign for $32k was still there from when the seller bought the car a week ago. Kind of like advertising it using photos of it on the trailer when Flip picked it up.

No not that.  The seller said that was his yard price a few weeks earlier. The at least 35k price was craigslist price. Two separate sales lol. I offered 33k he declined then I asked it has to be 35k?,  he said maybe, but he'd need a day or two to think about it. I wanted that car so bad and would have paid the 35, but I just had to get the hell out of there could not would not give him a penny lol.  It was strange to say the least.

well the ad was deleted ,maybe he sold it. Had a similar experience back in '98 with a guy I  knew from the area, he was going thru a divorce and was selling his 71 barracuda convert. We haggled over the car then the parts finally agreeing on a price. Didn't hear from him for a couple days then he tells me he sold it for a grand more. Had a time waster out a few weeks ago looking at one of my cars , he apparently didn't realize it was 2019 not 1990 and the prices have escalated.
