engine bay braces on 70 Challenger?

saw this on Facebook page...

supposed to be a low mile ( maybe 35K miles) original paint 1970 Challenger with engine bay braces....never seen them have you?.......dealer/owner add on?

Why did this car have them?

Those were definitely added by someone.  They look like they might be late B-body braces.  They used really long ones like that.  When the factory started putting them on cars, they were painted black.  This Challenger has body colored braces.  At least part of the car has been painted.  :alan2cents: 

The exhaust manifold have been painted silver, so there's no telling what else has been "updated".

Agree, and will also point out the non-OE cruise control servo...

Yup...that's not anything Chrysler had installed on an E Body. :stop:

I hate to admit it but I have braces similar to those on my car.   When I bought the car in 1985 they were their and I just left them on.
I guess I could always take them off, but then the fenders would fall off!!

I have never seen them on an E body , a lot of later B bodies had them

The factory started adding them on A-bodies in 74 I think.  They were on pretty much everything in the late 70's and early 80's.  They were used to reduce "cowl shake".  That was one main customer complaint on the A-bodies.  I'm putting them on my 68 convertible.
