My stroker 520" six bbl get 6mpg.  My plugs look fine.  Runs real nice.  6mpg during break in.  6mpg at 4000miles.  And I have a tall rear and overdrive!  Try a little harder and you can get even less!!!!

Wow that's nuts? I wonder why?

3 manual carbs is part of the issue so 3 accelerator pumps !!
I still believe there is more in iit tho

The small block in my race car got a 5 gallon at the start of each day.  I'd get 3 practice passes and 3-5 competition passes.  So roughly 2 miles of high rpm blasts. I also had to go back to the pits after each pass, so an added 2 miles for that. I'd also go through inspection and go to the gas pump so another .5 miles for that.  So roughly 4.5-5 miles from 5 gallons of gas. I'd have just a splash left at the end of the day.

My 440 duster would consume exactly  1/2 gallon for each 1/4 mile run [burnout ,run + return ]

I have a 383 stroker 489 cu in. Little under 600 hp and 615tq  I avg 16-17 mpg.  355s and a 4 speed and a big 950holley hp carb. I tuned it on a chassis Dyno, I know a lot has to do with your cam profile.
