I read recently that there were only 11 71 Hmicuda convertibles built. How many still exist?

There's a documented total of 12 and I believe all of them are known to still exist. @Cudino would be the one to know that answer... :worship:  There was 8 of them at the 2015 MCACN show....

Probably about 200 or so on the planet now.

Wikipedia has it at 2x 4spd and 5x autos, but that excludes exports. So is this number wrong iro originals or were the rest exports?

You kind of have to loosely use the word 'exist' when referring to at least one or two of them.

One can make all the "re-body" arguments they have, but those two VIN tags still left the factory as 1971 Hemicuda convertibles, and they still count.  :alan2cents:  ...and they still carry value, maybe not as much as an original body paneled car, but still way more then most of us can afford. :bigmoney:

Yep one of the few cars where the survival rate is like 350% ?  :D
Love them all though.

12 - 1971 hemi'cuda convertibles are known to have been built (it's a long-shot, but there could be more/others)

one has 0% (not one ounce) of the original car in its current presentation  is it an original hemi'cuda convertible?

Alan and 6bblgt have it exactly right, 12 1971 Hemicuda ragtops are known to have left the factory from day 1.  Expanding on 6bblgt's breakdown, 8 were autos and 4 were 4-speeds.  As with all these old cars a few of them lived rougher lives than the others, so while all 12 have been accounted for some have survived with greater vs. lower levels of originality.

The number "11" has been used frequently, even on my own now-outdated signage, but that's because this total was set in stone before the re-surfacing of the third International-spec car.  Based on the evidence that this third car was actually produced, the total initial-production number really should be changed to 12.
