I have been poking around looking at strobe stripe kits for my 73 rallye challenger for when I'm finished restoring it.
I see a lot of manufacturers offer different colours on these stripe kits, although I thought they were all supposed to be flat black?
My car is a factory brite red car with a white interior and a white vinyl top.
Can anyone confirm that all rallye strobe stripes were black from the factory?

You could have any color you wanted, as long as it was black... :D The stripe code was V6X. Black was the only strobe color offered on 72-74 Challengers. All sorts of aftermarket colors are offered, as you have found out. I've seen white stripes on B5, and red stripes on black. They look good, but are not factory correct.

In my opinion, Performance Car Graphics offers the best quality stripes, and they will make them any colour you want.

Second that on Performance Car Graphics.

Did mine last summer. Great quality.  Follow instructions and give yourself a couple of hours. Read the instructions again, install - then stand back and admire.

We're the original stripes more of a flat black, or a gloss black?
I see some manufacturers sell both

Another reason I like PCG is their years of experience and vast knowledge of what was factory and what was not.

The originals were matte black

Yep.  Unfortunately only black from 72 on.  Too bad as noted other colors do look good but are not "original".  Id like a set of white stripes for my rallye personally but its pretty close to how she came so its staying black.  Too bad they didn't allow other colors...or a hood blackout...or a bumble bee stripe option...or the SE formal window...or ANY big block...

I like the strobes, but I like the bumblebee stripe better, so that's what I went with on my 73. Both would be overkill.

AGREED!  Nice Rallye you got there!

Thanks, had it since 73, and I've put my heart and soul into it, not to mention a chunk of my bank account... :) Didn't even start life with the A57 Rallye pkg, but I put most of the Rallye pieces on it by the late 70's.

Regarding flat black stripes....when waxing/polishing the car, do you have to be careful not to get polish on the stripes?  Does the polish change the color of the flat black?

Yeah waxing is a pain around them.

For years now I have just been using Meguire's Quick Detailer on everything.  I don't ever wash the car anymore.  I just spray, wipe, let it set then buff with a clean rag and it comes out great.  Near the end of the year I clay bar it with the same stuff and cover it up for the winter.  It works so well I don't put anything else on anymore.

Thought I'd revive this thread as I am about ready to apply the rallye strobe decals on my 73 challenger.

I bought the performance graphics kit; the quality looks good.
It came with a bunch of generic decal prep and install instructions, but nothing specific to installing these side strobe decals other than a photo to show where they go.
If anyone out there has installed strobe decals and has any hints/tips or tricks I would appreciate them[emoji106]
