At least they now know where the numbers matching engine is ... things change ... maybe they can work a deal at a later point.
Cheers!

Tis' better to have owned classic Mopars and lost than to have never owned at all (apologies to Alfred Lord Tennyson)

I will ask my friend Brian D from Espanola to call the shop to see if they can take pics for him.  Dave you know him as he brought me to your house several years ago.

That VIN is so crisp & straight if it were in a car claiming numbers matching I'd have doubts....

And it's a shame the top pad has been altered...

@6bblgt  @Dodge_Main  The numbers on that block are 100% authentic.  Brian bought that engine from me. I bought the engine back in the 70's after the owner of the FC7 Cuda  R.Petterson pulled it out to install a Hemi. A little knowledge [1 Wild R/t] can be dangerous. Let the experts Dan  & Dave give their expert opinion.

I'm not in any way saying it's not authentic... I'm saying the numbers look better than the norm....

Let's take a second and give Dave and Dan a chance to take a look.

There is alot of great knowledge on here from all sorts of people, No one here is out there making false claims, but sharing there opinion.  I for one would welcome as many eyes to see it as someone might catch something missed by others. That being said you all have way more experience than me so I'll just sit back and learn as much as I can.

Welcome  dave! Stick around

It's funny...if a VIN stamp is crooked and messy, people say it's a fake, if its crisp and straight, people says it's a fake .... :looney: :looney: :haha: :haha: :haha:  you can't win :headbang:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

I've seen enough VIN stamps to know crooked is common.. Straight is certainly possible but not as common as looking like a drunken kid stamped the number...  End of the day I've never been that concerned about numbers, I drive my stuff... These cars weren't built as museum pieces....

Thank you @750-h2  for sharing the photos and trying to get the original engine back with the car.   :clapping:  Sharing info and helping others is all we can do.  Maybe you can send your phone to Dave in a PM or send him the current owners info and maybe things work out in the future.  Dave @Dodge_Main  is great at keeping peoples info in case the opportunity comes up to help put the owners in contact in the future.

@Cuda Cody Thanks Cody for the kind words. Back in February when I started this thread Brian and I were hopeful that the car and engine could be reunited. Brian was just looking for an even trade, engine for engine. Unfortunately the engine is being installed in Brian's car as I type this post. With Covid 19 the Cdn/US border is closed until at least the end of August, Brian's Charger after a very lengthy and expensive restoration is almost complete so you cannot blame him for wanting to finally drive and enjoy his car. Like you say maybe later the Cuda owner and Brian can get together and make a deal. :fingerscrossed:
