Not really car related, but we may be going and I wondered if any of our urbane and well travelled members had any recommendations, warnings or advice regarding the place.

My son was there last year. Be very careful coming out of the airport, as they have teams on motorcycles watching for travelers looking at cell phones to see where to go... they drive right up and snatch the phone from your hands and off they go... was a royal pain for him to lock accounts up, as phone is unlocked when they snatch it out of your hand.

I suggest watching Hangover Part 2...then reconsider your trip!!!  Or at least take it as a guide of what not to do!!!

IRON MAN

Spent a week in the "Land of a Thousand Smiles" Bangkok. Bangkok is up there with being the "pickpocket capitol of the world". Wear pants with pockets that button or have snaps. Don't wear a watch. I was victim to two guys on a motorcycle that snatched my camera and took off. Suggest Travelers Checks. Be vigilant and do not let your guard down. Hook up with the hotel concierge to go on as many tours as time allows. I went on tours every day. There is safety in numbers. There is a lot to see in Bangkok.  Try not to look like a tourist. Enjoy.

It's an awesome place to visit. Beautiful country. Usual awareness of your surroundings, but no different from home. Hangover was a movie...
