Hi
Avoiding an uninteresting long story, I'd like to make the grille in my '70 'Cuda clone a bit more presentable.

I'm looking for advice on how to R&R it.  It's kind of dry rotted, the retangular bumps that hold the metal trim are missing.  As well as the metal trim. I'm hoping it won't disintegrate if I carefully remove it.

Being a cheap b*stard, I also don't want to spend a lot on paint.  I have some krylon paint on hand that's a very close color and texture match to the dark argent used on '71 centers.  Kind of tempted just to use that.  Does Krylon make something similar to light argent?

Thanks in advance for your help

hahaha.  He is correct.

You will need to build up the clip areas with JB weld then file it down to the correct shape.
Since the grill is disintegrating and you are willing to paint it I see no issue with using JB and krylon.
Keep in mind that non cracked grill centers can be found under 1K.  And there are reproductions out there that have the trim included with the purchases.
The trim will be pricey alone.

Thanks for the advice so far.

Eventually, this car will be cloned into a '71, just trying to make it look a bit better while I wait my turn for the paint guy.

I can live with no trim, just looking for some paint cheap suggestions.

I was also hoping for some tricks on how to remove the grille.

Thanks
