What specifically is the difference between a Cuda and a Barracuda? I have a 1970 Barracuda that has a 360, 727 trans, and a 8 3/4 rear end. Are there any other differences?

In 1970 when you paid extra to get a cuda over a barracuda...You got:
Belt moldings
rocker moldings
wheel well moldings
tail panel moldings
hood pins
road lamps
rally hood
Cuda badging
heavy duty suspension
sway bars
etc...

Were wheel well mouldings standard on Cudas?

MEK-Dangerous

Just an FYI, there was no 360 engine in 1970.

Are you trying to figure out what your car was when it was new? If you have the original fender tag, you can decipher that and find out.

Filthy Filbert

Well, the BIGGEST difference is the VIN#    BH vs BS.

As for the actual physical differences on the cars... Different engines as the "standard" package, different "standard" suspension, different badging, trim options, hoods, etc.

But you *could* get them on Hemicudas and AARs? I'm assuming this was because of the special rolled fenders?

Could you order a 70 Cuda and the only sign that it was a Cuda was the vin ?

No. I was just trying to figure out the difference. I know the 70 cuda had a 340 and up engines.  Thanks

When you say heavy duty suspension, do you mean heavy duty leaf springs. What about the front suspension, what heavy duty parts were there?  Thanks

anlauto

Shocks, front sway bar. torsion bars in some cases

The rocker panel moldings were very unique per vehicle.

BH had no rocker panel molding
BP had a horizontal rocker panel molding
BS had a vertical rocker panel molding.

I am sure you meant rocker panel moldings.
You have to have a rocker panel under the doors.

6bblgt

the (BH) Barracuda was marketed as a "pony car"
the (BP) Gran Coupe was marketed as a "luxury pony car"
the (BS) 'cuda was marketed as a "performance pony car" (musclecar)

the only 4bbl engine available in both the Barracuda (BH) & Gran Coupe (BP) was the "N"-code 383 4bbl engine
--- with an automatic transmission this was the 330hp blue painted engine with a CARTER carburetor * NOT available in a 'cuda (BS)
--- with a manual transmission this was the 335hp orange painted "HP" engine with a HOLLEY carburetor * this was the STANDARD engine in a 'cuda (BS)

the M88 "tail panel", M31 "belt", M25 "rocker" & M26 "wheel lip" mouldings were STANDARD on (BS) 'cuda
--- due to the HEMI car's "rolled" fenders ... the "wheel lip" mouldings were POOR fitting & were eventually DELETED by mid-January 1970
--- as part of the A53 "TRANS AM" package ... the M31 "belt", M25 "rocker" & M26 "wheel lip" mouldings were DELETED from the AAR 'cuda (although M26 "wheel lip mouldings" were on the OPTION list)

(BS) 'cuda exclusives:
'cuda emblems & red grill bar
dual exhaust tips
340*, 440HP, 440+6, HEMI
DANA60s
"fish gill" rocker mouldings
AAR package "A53"
"hockey" stripe
SHAKER hood*

* while a 340 Barracuda and/or a Barracuda with a SHAKER hood may exist  :alan2cents:  they are unicorns   :crazytalk:
