Sweet!  Thanks for the pics and explanations.  At least now I have an idea of what I'm looking for.

Did the base's have their own separate part numbers?

Would it really be 14 different inventory setups?  More like 8 (4 engines x 2 finishes)
Assuming the engine callout emblems were installed after the shaker was pulled from inventory.

Regardless, your shaker finish theory makes aesthetic sense to me.

emblems were installed at FRAM - Dodge VS. Plymouth are different emblems

I realize the emblems are different.
Just wasn't sure if they were installed at Fram or at the factory when line workers were putting the shaker on the car.

This is what the support for a 383 base looks like. I was going to make one, but you have to buy an 8ft stick of the octagon rod, so I just used thread-all and slipped an 3/8 ID  piece  of conduit over it.

How does the support mount and what exactly does it support?

Do you have the exact measurement on that rod? I wanna fabricate one as soon as I find out how long it's supposed to be OEM.

I think these guys have that 383 rod:

I didn't see it listed on the website, but they mention it in a recent Mopar Action article.  Send an email.

Here you go.

1/4-20 thread, 5/8" on each end of the rod.

The wingnut/washer is unusual.  1 3/4" diameter

Thank you so very much! Just wanna make sure, we have mm, that makes the center piece 7 3/4" am I correct, 9" - 10/8" = 7 6/8" = 7 3/4"??? I have a similar or maybe correct wingnut in my parts boxes from 1970-80 that I bought.

Correct.  As a double check, I just scrounged up a metric ruler and got these

Here's a pic of the one I made. Under the large washer its double nutted.  I bought a large plastic wing nut at Ace. If your going to have one made, I would suggest you either get some thread-all and do as I did so you have an accurate measurement for your car, or at least have the shaker side of your support a little long. Just in case. Not everything fits exactly like it did when it left the factory.  :D

The way I determined how high to have the washer was I first took the bubble only off. I removed the hood pop up spring so I wouldn't get any false feel for the shaker pressing against the hood too much. Then with the air cleaner on and tight, I felt the space between the rubber hood seal and the hood itself. I adjusted the double nuts under the washer to get the front to rear spacing as equal as I could.

Did all engines with shakers get the prop rod?  Or was this just a 383 part?
