Do you use a car cover? Which one?

I live in a desert.  Would like to reduce some of the dust so I am considering buying a cover.

Do you have a cover you recommend?  Are there any drawbacks to using a cover?  I was thinking I would clean the car with a california duster before putting a cover on it each time, only takes a minute.

So far I am looking at...

Car will always be stored indoors.  Just looking mainly for dust protection and so passerby's cant see my car.

Thanks

I use the dustop for the indoor cover. The  superweave is a great cover for overnight shows. Very thin and water proof but not much protection because it's so thin.

When she's outside I use their sunbrella.

I personally don't like traditional covers. I had one on the Challenger inside the garage. I had it on once, took it off and it had scratched the rear 1/4 panel trim.
I'd just use some thin plastic like they use in body shops. It's super thin and light. When it gets dirty just put another piece on.

Yup  :iagree: had similar experience. The cover seemed to hold onto dust.

No, dust washes off.

Your kids or wife may change your mind though.

The covers you've linked are nice covers...The trouble won't be the cover itself it'll be the dirt/dust that gets between the cover and the vehicle...Once you put the cover on a vehicle that isn't spotless the nice, soft underlayment will act like a dust mop and hold any accumulated particles that will do more harm than good...This is compounded by the wind and elements if you've got it outside with the cover flapping in the breeze...I'm always amazed by just how dirty a vehicle ends up even with the cover on it...
What I've ended up doing  for inside storage is retiring the household sheets and blankets to "car cover" duty...I'll throw a few on the vehicle and then add the normal car cover over that to take the biggest amount of dust...
I'll have the vehicle spotless before the car show and after a day out there it's always got a film on it even on the best day...By that time at the end of the day I'm beat and I just cover it quickly at the end of the day then when I have time pull the sheet off and wash it before it goes back on the car to keep the paint swirl marks to a minimum..
For me it's either do this or try and wash the expensive car cover more than I'd like...

I don't use covers much. The Air compressor is a nice tool for blowing the dust off though.
