Does J81 (70 Go-Wing) always appear on the fender tag? (if factory equipped)

I am looking at a 70 Challenger that has the Go-Wing spoiler. It has the fender tag but no build sheet. I did much searching on prior threads  and see some codes don't often appear on the fender tag itself. I cannot find out if the specific j81 code is something that would appear there or not consistently. I am wondering if it not appearing on this car's fender tag proves the car did not come factory equipped with it or if it might of, but one can't be sure due to no build sheet.

J81 should be on the fender tag - look at it this way, IF it required a hole or welding something to the body (before paint), IT should be on the fender tag

Challenger R/T?

Thanks, yes the car is a real "R/T". The ironic thing was in trying to research this before posting here,  I used google to see pictures of 70 Challenger fender tags, and not one had the J81 code. I guess I just didn't see the right ones.

the problem is - the rear spoiler wasn't in the initial dealer data book, order forms or OPTION list; it was introduced later in the year- when available, it was an obscure OPTION - now everyone adds a spoiler

accounting for 92% of 1970 Challenger R/T production (18,364 total JS23 / JS27 / JS29), J81 "rear spoiler" installation rate was 1.8% ***** ~330 cars

comparing to '71 where it was in the data book & others

accounting for 84% of 1971 Challenger R/T production (3,907 total JS23), J81 "rear spoiler" installation rate was 5.8% ***** ~230 cars

been there, done that     my J81 RR was an EV2 coupe   more Road Runners (38,000) than Challenger R/Ts = more J81 RRs ~1,200

Ya, very low option car - no Decor package, Medium grade interior but I find it odd that it does have the Go-Wing.

AAR should be J82, maybe that's a factory mistake on that tag  ;)
