I often get asked about the inspection paint daubs found on the front suspension.
I ran across this nicely restored Challenger at a car show in Toronto today and had my son snap this picture (he owns a cell phone that actually takes pictures too !) of the front suspension....

Maybe this could be used for reference ?

The one I like to look at is the Hemi Cuda Convertible the Bryan Blake did.  He has lots of before and after photos and went to extreme to match the dabs and colors.  But we also know that each car was a little different, but if you don't have one that has the original dabs it's nice to use the photos below as reference.  Bryan's Cuda is one of my all time favorites.   :inlove:

  I was trying to be nice and put up some correct dabs!   :haha:  Didn't want to hurt your feelings if you planned to take a random color crayon to the under side of one of your cars.   :console:

At least that guy made an effort to put the paint dabs on.  (I'm trying to think of something nice to say about his paint marks.)  :dunno:

The funniest part is, even with all those colors and dabs, I don't think he got a single one in the right spot.   :Thud:

I don't see anything nice to say about it.

I see deception, laziness, uneducation, egotism, inexperience...

It's someone that was:
-too lazy/cheap to carefully clean and document the disassembly process.
-OR the info was wiped clean by previous resto or heavy rust exposure.

-too lazy to research to commonly documented inspection marks

-too uneducated and inexperienced to understand that one cars inspection marks compared another cars marks DOES NOT equal combining the two to create a rainbow effect.

-egotistical to think that adding random made up marks would deceive others to thinking the car was more stock looking correct.

Took a long time to do all those paint daubs ....I looked for the owner at the show but nobody was around, I wanted to ask him about the details.

Sounds like someone paid to have it restored. If it was just $50/hr that's $250K. @$25/hr that's $125K

It would be a shame if an E-body owner paid even near that amount of money for those end results.

Great to have web sites like this one to help mopar hobbiest from getting ripped off.
