Are the painted twist on gas caps the same from 70-74. I am looking to buy one for a 70 if anybody has one.
Thanks

Chryco Psycho

I believe 70 was unique as it was vented , all other years were sealed & vented differently , not sure if they mount exactly the same though

Anyway I can tell the difference by looking at them ?
My car has the Calif emissions so is that cap different ?
Thanks

71 & newer has the locking tabs at a different height than 70.... The blue cap appears to be a 70 California cap...

This WAS  ::) , I believe, the original cap on my 5-70, LA built Deputy challenger. "Was" because I drove off and left it on top of a gas pump in Somerset Ky, when I discovered it missing, I drove straight back and it was already gone (maybe 20 minutes). Anyway, I believe it was an original (late)70 cap. I don't believe it had the "California emissions package".

Found this in my stash, don't know if this works for you.

The bottom side will clean up nice when put in evap-o-rust. Top part is just paint over paint over paint.

Every Challenger owner with the painted gas cap should have a spare painted along with the rest of the car.  It's only a matter of time before it gets dropped or left at the gas station. :verymad:

Two things I never did in my lifetime. Lose a gas cap or run out of gas.

I must be special..... :looney:
