I looked around but didn't see anyone else post this... maybe you can just comment below with a link to said post cause I can't believe I'd be the first to see this...

Obviously I don't do this as a business but... I can see doing a "complete rotisserie, OE restoration" (as stated in the ebay ad) for under a hundred when I don't count any of my own time but how on earth do you manage that when running a business (paying employees/ self/ shop costs etc.)? Am I crazy? I mean I know it probably takes me 3 times longer than most pros to do a simple task because I'm new at it but that seems cheap. I've also been to instrument specialties and they have some restorations in progress over there that I think he said (son't quote me on this) were up over 300.  What am I missing?

Interesting way to do it.     But I would honestly trust my car with @anlauto  WAY before i would trust it with GYC.  And I know Alan does way better work too.   :alan2cents:

Yeah, If anything, I'd be less suspect of GYC's quality if they charged more in that ebay ad.

If I were to send out an e-body it would go to Alan. No question.  :worship:

And it has nothing to do with me being half Canadian   ;)

The car looks real solid so I don't have a problem with the $100K price tag assuming they likely bought it dirt cheap off of the original owner. :bigmoney:

One thing I get a kick out of, well two things actually...

First, setting a "hard" price BEFORE the restoration, kind of dictates the quality of the restoration, where corners will be cut to stay in budget and make a profit based on a "sold" price.... :o
Secondly, what kind of successful restoration business needs to do this type on gimmick just to get business ?

Talk to any quality restoration shop, they have a full waiting list, they're not on eBay trying to drum up business  :dunno:

With the success of the TV show, you'd think they would have the capitol to restore this car themselves, THEN try and sell it or auction if off  :bigthumb:

Would have to put an AAR stripe on it.   :)

100K? wow, that seems a bit steep. even 60K is too much considering it doesn't have the original engine and needs some body work. But then the market seems really squewed. I saw someone trying to sell a shell that looked like it was in a fire for about 15K and I doubt ANY part was usable. LOL. Maybe I need to reevalute what my car is/will be worth. $$$ LOL

CudaMoparRay

Definitely bares some hard questions being asked.  :wrenching:

I never said I thought a triple black, non-numbers 340 was worth $100K.....that would be sorta high on the open market for sure, but I agree with purchasing a car and doing a full restoration would, or could be done for $100K....not much less.

Will a 3 X TX9 340 Cuda bring six figures ? I'm not sure we're there yet, unless it was an AAR as mentioned. :alan2cents:

Hi @anlauto ,
Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you thought it was worth that price. I was just reacting to the listed ebay price. LOL. for 6 figures, it better be all original and in immaculate shape and/or rare as hell. Well, at least in my book.

RUNCHARGER

Yeah: Well I think I'd take the B5 440+6 with everything going for it that was advertised on this site a few months ago by a member. A little more than $100k but beautifully restored with real parts by a real enthusiast.

I am amazed that B5 440+6 has not sold yet.

RUNCHARGER

Yes: It's ridiculous. That car has it all and I haven't seen a better one this year for sale. The price is low for what it is compared to these other deals that have been coming up.

With all the cars on GYC"s lot waiting to be restored and the money Mark gets for the TV show why would he waste his time doing a eBay auction. For that car to  be restored by a shop that charges probably close to 100 dollars an hour a 1000 hours is 100k not counting the price of the car or the price of the parts.

Timbbuc2

I think Mark is using this for publicity, which is not a bad idea, look we are here talking about it. :alan2cents:
