If only I had a lathe ... and knew what to do with one

There are several hood scoop inserts for sale on eBay but I don't see the screws individually. 1970-1974 Plymouth Cuda Barracuda OEM Hood Scoops with Inserts, OEM MOPAR Perhaps one of the sellers has a few extra not advertised.

I sort of recall putting a countersunk screw in a drill press, not over tightening the chuck, and running a file along its side until getting the desired head diameter, or close to it. Then chasing the threads due to minor distortion from the drill press chuck. I also think I filed the screw's top a bit to make the bevel look closer to to the top, you know, without having the flat filed side.

I know I did that but can't remember if it was for scoop insert screws or some other application.

Many folks that restore work bench vices do this exact thing for the screws that hold jaws on.

avatar_mtull @mtull they're already installed, but some years ago I bought a pair of the repops for my 73 and compared them with the originals, and I have to say the repops were a good match.

Thank you

The 1974 Barracuda I am working on needs the plastic inserts that hold the nameplate to the side of the hood scoops. Does anyone know of a source for these? Thanks.
