Through Summit, I ordered a yellow top battery produced by Turbo Start. It was a terrible battery. After constant dead batteries, boosts, changing chargers etc... I brought it into a local battery rebuilder and he said it was one of the cheapest AGM batteries he had ever seen. He ended up gutting it and putting a smaller AGM battery in it. Never again did I have a problem.

They are not worth the money. I know you are looking for looks but beware of turbo start. It's almost ironic that the word "start" is in the company name. This battery certainly did not embody their company name.

Axion who made and supplied the batteries to turbo start was the problem. Lets not put out the conviction yet on there new batteries from turbo start. I bought 100's of batteries with minimal failures before axion dropped the product sighting it wasn't a viable product any longer to hold up production for such a small market. Turbo start bought the rights and tooling from axion and with hopes to have them available sometime this summer??

This is why you a re the expert sir! I could only go by the name that was on the box. I assumed Turbo Start was the producer.
Someday I will have a J0b.

I called Classic Industries today they said they were hoping to have some red tops in by 2.5 - 3 weeks

https://www.classicindustries.com/product/md2470.html

Question for Dave, these red tops have all of the same look whether they are from antique battery, batterycentralmall or Classic Industries, these 3 vendors must be getting from the same source, do you have a name of that source? I would go straight to that source and ask about a purchase instead of dealing with these middlemen

thanks

Just thought of something, can we, as a group, make some noise to break this logjam? With the power of social media, and with our purchasing power it seems we ought to be able to come up with something,  I spoke to several people, TurboStart, MrMoparts, etc and apparently the batteries are there ready to be shipped out, but the logistics need to be worked out. This should be easy to resolve!

:alan2cents: As mentioned already. I've tried to do a large pallet order for a few months now. no call back, no return emails. I even doubt that the batteries are built and just sitting waiting to be shipped. that is too much frozen capitol  to just be on the ground.
turbostart  doesn't buy them from Antique/classic as they are in process to get back into selling.

Working with licensing agreements on items like batteries will be a much more involved process than say that of getting say a rubber body bumper with a part number registered and licensed.  Look at how long it took to get the oil filters licensed after they were marketed as being ready to be released.  No matter how bad we want these items for our cars, we are still at the mercy of Mother Mopar and the lawyers.  Just be glad that it is not a Ford part, they are even more difficult to deal with.
www.restorationpartsandmaterials.com  Mopar weatherstripping is our specialty, but we offer a wide assortment of restoration products.

Last chat I had a couple weeks a go with Turbo Start. They licensing agreement was done they were working on packaging and logos.  Yes it does take a while for trademark resources and FCA to get stuff done. More so on the FCA part. NO cooperation.

Does anyone have info on this battery? The seller said he has 10 left. Are these New Castle batteries? At first I got excited because I saw he was in Youngstown.. but they are not Antique Batteries.

That's not the correct battery. You need the gp 27 red cap. No one has them right now, I have been looking for a while. I have one ordered, but its about 6 weeks out.  Really nothing you can do unless you find someone having a car restored and can talk them out of theirs for a while.

An update on this issue.  As mentioned early in this thread, I ordered a yellow cap battery from Antique Auto Battery in March after difficulty getting through to them.  I was skeptical I'd actually see my order, though for the last month I've come home from work quietly hoping I'd find a box waiting for me when I got home with a repro battery in it!
So today I got an email from someone named Dottie about an older order from Antique Auto Battery.  She said Deloris, the owner of Antique Auto Battery, had retired and the business sold.  It is now Jims Battery or something like that.  Though they still have the same website/phone number/address.  She apologized for the delay and asked if I still wanted the battery I ordered in March.  I said yes, and they said 3 weeks.  I'll report when it actually arrives.  :looney:

I feel bad for you 'numbers" guys looking for the battery in the haystack. Reading this thread looks like this is a real PITA. Ol' BIGS just goes out in the yard grabs the biggest (CCA) ford truck battery I can find and done! Don't hate me....  :stop:
