72 Challenger

Hi Everyone,

Awhile ago I came across a chart that laid out a basic range of dates that parts were dated in reference to the production date of their car.

Example: (I am making these numbers up)

Rear axle: 6-12 months beofre the SPD of the car
Transmission: 3-8 months before SPD

The date codes that were applied by paint on my car are long gone but I love putting the details back on the car. I am trying to order some stamps to put these codes back on but of course need to determine which date I am going to choose. I just want the dates to be probable, there is abviously a certain amount of guessing and assumptions going on here. It's more for the look.

Thanks!
Someday I will have a J0b.

The last T/A I did had a build sheet and fender tag with a SPD (Scheduled Build Date) of 3-17 and the original ink stamped dates on the rear end pumpkin was 1-22 and the axle housing was 2-25.   :alan2cents:

@Cuda Cody This is just the kind of information I am looking for!

Differential to axle tube is about a month and the axle tube assembly about another month away from the SPD.  It will be going in a Duster that had an SPD in November 1969.  It just needs to look the part.

I guess there is no guide to making dates. I will try and figure out what the codes are for these, completely arbitrairily made up dates:

Differential: September 19 1969
Axle Tube: October 14 1969
SPD: Mid November 1969.

Someday I will have a J0b.
