Ahhh...if only we had a time machine   :lookatthat:

Yeah buddy.... 12.5K for a 70 Hemi Challenger Convertible..... But Apple stock would have perhaps been an even better idea...

APPL 1982  .17 per share
APPL 2018  $200 per share

$12,500 in 1982 would have bought 73,500+ shares
73,500 shares @ 200 per share today is 14,700 dollars....

But the trick to either scenario is not selling between 1982 & today....

You missed a few zeros there :o $14,700,000

Thanks... Yes I did....

You may want to check your math  73500 X $200 = $14,700,000

Will wait for a 4 speed, after all, and try to avoid any body work.

Keep in mind there is a premium on a four speed car, and that seems especially true for the Trans Am cars....When it comes to the high revving small block in an AAR Cuda or Challenger T/A,  it seems everybody wants a four speed.
Take  this orange car in question, you can expect the asking price to be likely $10K higher....$85K or so for a comparable four speed in my opinion :alan2cents:

Actually your math might be way more off than that.  I don't think 82 price you used accounts for all the splits.

I went to work for Apple in June 1997 when it was at rock bottom and the price was $12, but to get to todays value you need divide by the three splits that were at 2, 2 and 7 - so to compare it today you need $12/2/2/7 = 43 cents

I bought as much as I could and told three people to buy - my mother in law, my father and my adopted grand father (his an older gentleman / car collector.  Only the last one bought and he sold when he got to 20X

As for me if I had kept every share I bought and was awarded I'd have ..... well lets not go there  :deadhorse:

I have a hard time being patient :crazytalk: Since I decided to wait it out I found a really nice Tor Red car with a red/white interior but it too is an automatic. Car is restored without original tranny or build sheet. Low miles, no rally dash. Will keep the hunt going.

It wouldn't be "Tor-red" .Tor-red is paint code EV2 which is the same as Hemi orange....I know it's confusing....

The car you're talking about is likely FE5 Rallye Red., it's been for sale for a while.

Overall pretty good. At least you could work with it. The wheels look terrible, wrong aircleaner lid etc. but those things are easily corrected as long as the body is trouble free.
