So close to getting the cuda fired up (no pun intended) for the first time in three years but while underneath the car I noticed a puddle of oil right below the just rebiult a833 transmission. I hoped it was the speedo gear or backup light switch but of course not that easy - it`s between the main case and tail housing! Torn between getting hammered (wouldn`t take much, not much of a drinker), crying or putting my fist thru the wall!

Make sure all the bolts are tight :alan2cents:

First thing I did. Anyone know id f I can back out the bolts and separate them just enough to squeeze some sealer in there or do I need to pull the transmission out?

Amen to that!  I tend to jump to the obscure and worst case scenario.  I have hopefully gotten better at "try the simple things first."  THEN tear it apart with your choice of hammered/crying/violence or any combination of the three.  My favorite (learned from a former boss) is throwing a wrench.  Preferable a Snap-On that you will have a hard time finding.

Just sucks I went to all the trouble to biuld a dolly and assemble everything to install from below and now that it`s all together I need to take the transmission back out.

Ah, the ol "one step forward, two steps back" scenario that I am all too familiar with. I'm sure many members are also, welcome to the club.

Ya, many times but just wasn`t in the mood for this one as I`m trying to get the car ready for a show on August 8th. I was planning to fire it up on Saturday so I had the week to sort out any bugs, get an alignment etc. Guess I`ll be going as a spectator again and to top of my day I just realized my truck windows were left open and it`s been downpouring for 10-15 minutes.  ::)

Definitely sucks, but pulling an 833 isn't the worst of jobs.

This is just a minor setback. I blow up a 904 on April Fool day driving on the freeway after the car was put back together. Did not get more than five miles. Be persistent and you will get there.

Sorry to hear the setback

When similar things with the challenger happened to me,  I would step back for a week or two,  go do something else.

Normally I would but haven`t driven it in 3 years and it`s almost August and really need to get it on the road before summer is over. I`ll keep working on other stuff and have the transmission dropped before the end of the week, reseal and get it back in this weekend. If all goes well and I can get an alignmnet appointment I may still make the show.

Yea sorry to hear of that for sure.
Keep plugging as you are so close now. As for the show, your gut will officially know when to call it.
