I took a lot of pictures of this car back in the early-mid 70s, but this has been the only one I can find.  I had a buddy that had the scoops and told me he was going to throw them away if I didn't take them.  I know, we were idiots. Car was gray with black stripe, black interior, console auto and 318. Of course I put the mandatory headers, homemade traction bars, polished aluminum Fentons and Goodyear G60s on it.  :D  I never did appreciate at the time what the car was because another friend had a '70 Cuda, so I felt like the ugly stepchild. The way the back seat laid down along with the interior trunk opening, the car made a major contribution to me making my first discovery of the joys of women !!

@Racer57 that looked like a nice car, how long did you own it?   :bigthumb:

I think I had it from 1973- 1976 when a woman pulled out in front of me and it was totaled out. It was pretty much wore out by then anyway.  :burnout: :wrenching:

I love them and honestly they are a much better car than an E-body. This is the only photo I have of my 69 340-S unfortunately.

Always loved the 2nd gen cudas. I've tried to buy them on a couple of occasions an never have been successful at closing a deal.

Why do you consider them to be better cars than the e bodies?

Just to add a picture of my hooptie.
Not the best pic at that.  Taken by @CudaKat

Well for one thing they are bolted together and designed more solid than an E-body. Better quality door panels, side window retention etc. A 340 A-body is a very well balanced car for handling and lighter than an E-body as well. The 340 A-bodies were feared by most big block musclecars in straight line acceleration when their secret got out too. The fold down rear seat makes them extremely practical for everyday use and makes the trunk usable as well. Styling is relative but if you look at a side profile of a 70-81 F-body GM and the side profile of a 67 Barracuda FB you know that GM was paying attention and following not leading.
Scott Harvey used these cars in rallys when new and they did very well. Truthfully if you tried to rally an E-body there is no way they wouldn't have parts falling off them when the going got tough.
The one superior trait the E-body platform had was the wider track and B-platform front suspension which was beefier than the A-body however the A-body had less weight to control. One bad trait was the fact that subframe connectors would have been a great addition to torsional rigidity but the E-bodies are weak in that area also.
I love them both but I consider the 67-69 Barracuda more of a "pure" road car and the E-body a bit more of a "razzle dazzle" car with more considerations for looks in it's design rather than pure function.

Hopefully, I'll get mine back before I can no longer enjoy it.

I had a 68 Cuda fastback 340 S 4spd in 78 & I hated it , yes they were very light & rediculously fast .
One night I raced my friend on the way home at about 2 am in his 69 Ram Air III GTO 4 spd , I pulled a train length on him & pulled over to see what he had broken, but he was doing all he could to keep up !! :burnout:
The 4" bolt pattern & 4 piston brakes were a problem even at only 10 years old . I couldn't shift it , I have 36" legs & my knee would hit the steering wheel on every shift , I ended up installing a much smaller wheel but that sucked too as it was manual steering  , the low back seats were never as comfortable as the highback seats .
I only had the car for about a year & sold it off , I have never considered replacing it .

Ha, ha: I think it is easier to slide into an A-body than it is to twist your legs around that E-body tiller! A-body Hurst shifter is in the right place too although an Inland shifter might as well be bolted to a Saginaw for all the good it will do in a 67 or 68. I'm 6'1" and they work for me. I ended up selling the 68 I built for my wife though, her legs were too short to push the clutch in on it.  :D
