Ok guys and gals check me here I spent some time yesterday and today gutting, cleaning out, and searching for numbers on my Cuda project. To start all the VIN.  numbers dash, door, core support, and cowl match the title, it is a 1973 BS vin 318 Cuda. It has a 4 speed and hump but no tag or build sheet to prove it ( I looked everywhere), but the paint on the hump matches the rest of the paint everywhere else inside. So here are the numbers I've come up with.

Block
Block casting #2780930-340-3
Block stamp under head G 340 R 33860091
I take this to be a 1971 340 engine

Heads
Head casting #3671587 J
Date #'s 1143 2762 3052 three heads came with the car
I take these to be 1973 188in. 160ex. J heads

Transmission
Driver side casting #C-99386 UF the UF is above the casting number
Pass side casting #C-99129 H 3 the 3 is above the casting number
Pad by the bell housing C 27-3
Tail shaft casting # C-99539 E
Pad on pass side stamped # PP8334308
I take this to be 73/74 E-Body ????

Rear end
casting #741 (weak 1 3/8 and it's broken)
Date 4784 or 472+
Not sure on the date numbers the + may or not be right

So what do y'all think did I get some things right let me know, and where can I read up on this 10000 day calender thing
it confuses me. Thanks

No on the engine because mine is a 318 Cuda and the seller told me the engine in the car didn't come with it when new. The trans had one but looked like the stamper guy hit it twice but I could tell it wasn't mine.

We are working on getting the 10,000 day calendar and Julian calendar up on this site.  But until then this might be of some help to you:

http://www.e-bodies.org/buying-your-first-e-body/vin-numbers/

Once you find the VIN's on the engine and trans you can be assured what year they were used on.

Cody wouldn't the 4308 on the under the head be a date? The vin on the trans is really messed up I can tell it does't end in 200 like mine dash vin. and where is the engine vin located? thanks

Cuda Cody

Here's where you find the VIN on the engine:

http://www.e-bodies.org/buying-your-first-e-body/vin-numbers/e-body-vin-numbers-page-3-2/#engine

The 3386 on the block is Nov 4th 1970.

I was thinking the  stamp under the head stood for as follows

G 1971
340 cubic inches
3386 date code
0091 was the 91 built that day
not sure what the R stands for.

Chryco Psycho

IIRC the R is regular fuel , while P was premium so you would have the 73 low comp 340

See this stuff is confusing my friend emailed me earlier and said the letters before the 340 on the front of the block are for the year.

E 1969
F 1970
G 1971
H 1972
I 1973
So tell me this if the 3386 is the date code can you figure out the date? That might shed light on these numbers thanks

LinceCuda

So let me throw one more thing out there would the R be on the 340 Four Barrel and the P be on the 340 Magnum?

Chryco Psycho

all 73 340s would be R but yes the magnum was probably used until 72 &4 bbl in 73 , then they went to L 360 in 74

LinceCuda

The 3386 is the date code and codes out to 11 /4/1970 so that would be correct for the 71 model year. I found the info on extrememopars.com
