Watched last weekends Barrett-Jackson auctions... fast forwarding thru them.   Amazed at the prices many of the cars are now bringing.

One thing that cracks me up is the hang up on "original".   Frequently they will state in describing the car is "original miles".   Can someone tell me just what is an "un-original" mile?

Another that cracks me up is "all original".  Really?  You telling me that that 50-60 year old car still has the "original" dry rotted tires, fan belt, water hoses, etc??   I dont care how well you preserve a car...and sitting in a barn for 30 years isnt preserving it, all rubber based products will dry rot !!

When I had my gauges restored, they reset the odometer to 0. Maybe that's what they mean by original miles? I've also seen cars that claim they have original hoses, tires, etc. Cool to look at but I would't be driving that anywhere without expecting the hoses to burst and the tires to deflate!

Wiper blades, belts, hoses, battery, tires, brake shoes/pads...the list is long.

Yeah the only thing that stupid place did was raise prices through the roof making these cars unaffordable for many. I'm quite surprised they haven't been sued because most of the stuff they claim is false or fraud. I've read stories and seen cars bought there that had to be towed home

if you aint standing there looking at the car in person don't buy it !!!!

and if you were standing there looking at it and bought it and its a piece of junk <whos to blame ?

Still laughing..

on here there are two different posts saying  10,686 original miles and 72k original miles.   Is there any other kind ?  Why do people think they have to put the word "original" on them ?

It's a sales gimmick that catches attention, much like "organic" for food.
Everyone uses, even when it doesn't apply, saw "organic" deep water fish the other day.
Do the other fishermen pump fertilizer in the water before the catch.......................

...and let's not forget our unibody cars that have a "frame off" restoration!

I believe that term is to indicate that the odometer has not been around once, five digits were modern vehicles have six.  :alan2cents:

Buyer beware! Educate yourself on E-bodies the best you can. Lean on the great members of this forum. Many of our members would go look at a local car with you or even without you. Get it on a lift.

I like to take a car home overnight before buying. At least take it away from the dealer/seller and go over it as much as possible. Did I say get it on a lift?
