Going through my parts and found this and with my oldtimers I can't remember what it is for.

Unless is some sort of crazy 1974 interlock part, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's NOT an E Body part :alan2cents:

I've got a 74 and I don't recognize that piece whatsoever. Sorry!  :bye:

here is another pic of the back side, it has an old TO-9 can transistor and shows a date of 6-71

chargerdon

Looks kinda like a circuit breaker !

70 Top Banana

Looks like an interlock of some kind in the first pic. Not sure from pic 2

Shoooter

I think it's the piece for the AC system that mounts on the top of the firewall by close to the passengers side hood spring.

I believe this is a piece I am missing as well. The knob goes in the is hole.

Well ...your limb just broke. If you would have checked your 71 service manual to chapter 9A page 7,
You would have seen that It's the control unit assembly (vacuum and thermal switch) for the California LA built cars that was part of the NOx system, 71 only. Nitrious Oxide Emissions. If your don't know the answer don't reply ...it's as simple as that. Hopefully the OP didn't discard the part based on your opinion.

I thought it was the Nox switch but the wires are red and yellow not brown and dgreen.

YYZ

Yup. '71 NOx equipment.

There's also a part that ties into the speedometer cable

Think I still have one here...

I still don't believe the part pictured above is an E Body part.  :alan2cents:

If someone can provide better pictures of one installed in an E Body, and what the complete unit looks like, that would be great learning experience for all of us.

....and Ross, not only is everybody entitled to share their opinion on this forum, but they're also encouraged to do so....whether they are right or wrong, it's just an opinion and it's how everybody learns... :alan2cents:
