That's a rare part.  I never seen on of those, but I've also never had the luck to own a 71 with AC.  I'm getting to learn more about our E-Bodies.  Thanks for sharing the photos and info.

  This topic got my interest so I looked in my 71 Service manual. I found this under the Polara/Monaco electrical diagrams and not under the Challenger/Barracuda diagrams. Is this it?

I see you have a fairly low post count, maybe these types of open conversations are not for you ? or maybe try to get more involved with more positive comments and less criticism of others, and you'll begin to enjoy this site as many of us have. It's the best E Body site in the WORLD :grouphug:

Kind of cool in some sense.  You will end up with a properly restored car without any missing parts.

Cool thanks for the education! So its kinds like a temperature controlled valve for the vacuum advance.
I'd imagine that would be a tough part to get period never mind if it still actually functioned. Might be one of those things if it didn't work that you could hide a ball bearing in the vacuum line so it looks correct but doesn't bleed off  or cause a vacuum leak.  I'd bet this is one of those " day two" items that ended up in the trash can. LOL

    I still have that piece mounted to my firewall ---missing a few items off of it . My cuda has AC and the N85,N95,N98 codes on the fender tag. If I remember right the dark blue wires did have something to do with the AC. I took it out like 40 years ago so I might be a bit fuzzy on that. Don't remember what else was plugged on to that other spade terminal either.

Only certain motors and trans combos got them. The extent of the N95 devices depended on model, motor, and trans combinations

Friend had a 71 340 Demon automatic California car with the full systems still intact. Has a speedo sensor.

318 California automatic E-bodies have that passenger firewall device them too.

Bentpushrods, is your E-body a 340 or 318 car originally?

I don't think big block E-bodies got them. My 71 383 R/T N95 doesn't/didn't have they passenger firewall device.

But my buddies 71 383-2 Challenger does have it, including the sensor on the speed cable & the part on the far right cowl
