Last night I had my Challenger at a local cruise night where I was approached by a friend of mine who informed me he was moving to Georgia and was looking for a nice E-body with an auto and A/C to have down there.  He noticed mine had everything he wanted, including the color, options, etc. so he asked me to sell it to him.  I told him I had no plans on selling it, but everything has a price and he didn't balk - kept telling me to let him know if I would sell it.

I purchased it last August after being without a running Challenger since 2007 - and I always had one in my garage since I was 17 when I got my first.  I picked up this one to get back into my favorite car.  I do prefer convertibles and 4 speeds, but I couldn't turn mine down when it came up for sale last August.  I do have a finished A-body Barracuda convertible in my garage as well, so if I did sell it I would still have a Mopar to drive until I got another 1970 Challenger.

Would you sell it and search for another or would you keep it?

If you prefer convertibles and 4 speeds, then I probably would sell it and get what I really wanted . . .
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

I've sold E-Bodies in the past and almost always regretted it.  Now that I think about it, every one I sold I wished I kept.  BUT what I don't think about is that most of the time I had to sell one to buy the next "dream" E-Body I wanted.  Some of them I made a little money, some of them I lost a little money, but in the end I normally break even and got to enjoy them while I had them.  But selling a car or two really was the only way I could get the E-Body I wanted.

Take a look at the E-Body market right now, there's not a lot of good cars available that are cheap.  Quality E-Bodies are demanding good money.  So if you do sell, keep that in mind.  I've seen people sell their car only to hit a road block in their quest to find their perfect E-Body.  If you look around and you're sure we can find what you want, then do it.  But don't do it with hopes you can find the right car years from now.  They normally go up in price faster then the money you would get from selling that would just be sitting in the bank.  :alan2cents:

Sell it, but a convertible :alan2cents:

Don't sell it until you have found it's replacement. Then you'll know how the $ line up. If you can make the deal, good. If not, keep what you have.

If you are really thinking about selling and looking for the drop top or other cool ride, now is the time to sell with a buyer  :takemymoney: at hand. When a car that has what you are looking for pops up will be a hot item and most likely won't last until you sell your ride.  :alan2cents:

303 Mopar

Sell it and get the convertible!  They are a blast to drive, especially with Summer coming up (but you will pay a premium right now too).   8)

Thanks for the input.  What do you think a fair price would be?

1970 R/T SE  Non-numbers match.  rebuilt 383, new carb, electronic ignition, console auto, A/C (not working), PS, manual drum brakes, B5 blue, white top, white stripes, originally a blue cloth interior that was changed to black, originally AM 8-track but now AM/FM thumbwheel, very clean body with no rust, new rear SE panel, have an extra set of bucket seats for it and some other parts I have accumulated.  Fender tag is present but no build sheet.

My friend doesn't care about matching numbers.

I was thinking in the 45K range.

Probably worth low $40's but you should start at $50K with your buddy...see how bad he wants it.
I would sell it first while you have a buyer...
If you find a convertible you're crazy about, chances are you won't find a buyer for your car when you need to. :alan2cents:

:iagree:

Ask 50k, take 45k, both buyer and you are happy. I would not take less than 40k if mine.  :alan2cents:

No less then $40k for sure.  The car has the right "look" and many people will love to own it.  I would say $45K is about fair if you wanted to sell.  Maybe start at $48k.  :alan2cents:  Looks like he'll be getting a super car.  Pretty sure you could not build it for any less.
