I'm trying to determine what else is missing other than plug wire looms & the piece that holds the heater hoses above the alternator. I know the valve covers are wrong but I was just trying to get a pcv system on it to start with. Any help please?
Thank you, Joe

Is this a 1970 or 1971?
Appears to be a 1970 `Cuda 440-6. Is that right?

Yes. That is correct. It's not a numbers car but there's some things that should be there. I'm still learning so you're not going to hurt my feelings. Thank you, Joe

It depends on how far you want to take it but there are a some easy items to look at correcting. Paint the master cylinder with lid satin black.
The engine looks very Red versus Street Hemi Orange. It could be the picture.
The 1970 Cuda cowl would be painted black if it was built prior to mid-MAY of 1970. No cowl black for most MAY and all JUNE/JULY Cudas.

I looked up your previous posts and found some answers.
EDIT: Is this a factory FM3 - Moulin Rouge Cuda? Originally "pale metallic green". Do you think it is FF4 - Lime Green Metallic which is not lime green at all but rather a light shade of green?
EDIT: Missing fender tag? Broadcast Sheet?

Your car is a mystery without either of those items so you can pretty much make it whatever you want.

Post some more pictures and forum members can chime in to help.

Just the engine or are you looking for all things missing or wrong in the engine compartment?
It's hard to see from the pictures, but I don't see a power steering cooler.
Pretty sure a 440-6 with power steering got a cooler, or was that just with the super track pack option?

Respectully I believe the cowl blackout began to disappear even earlier than that. My brother's FF4 R/T was in original paint when he got it and there was no evidence of blackout, it was an early April SPD. My EV2 car's SPD is late March, and although this car was more messed with when I got it the pics of it I took prior to disassembly don't offer any evidence of blackout either, so I'm leaving it off.

I know you asked about missing parts but a couple of other things that jumped out at me that could be taken care of easily would be to put on a tan distributor cap, and those aftermarket voltage regulators can be modified to look more like an original by trimming off the wing on the right side, painting black, and then ink-stamping them. The stamps can be purchased through this site for a few bucks.

The car was built in Nov 1969 which would fall into the group with painted cowl, however the car was also too early to been paint Moulin Rouge. I don't know if a Moulin rouge car would've ever had a black cowl although I did toy with the idea. I didn't build this car. I bought it this way just to have some fun with. I just want it to be functional & look correct even though it never will be. thank you, Joe

I think FM3 and FJ6 came out around Feb of 1970 and there are cars built in those colors with the cowls blacked out.  :bigthumb:

I went back and edited that post to say "1970 Cuda" cowl. Info was specific to Cuda, not Challenger.

@EV2RTSE You are right. The below Product Information Bulletin (PIB) #10 dated JANUARY 28, 1970 announcing FJ6 - Sassy Grass Green & FM3 - Moulin Rouge on the Barracuda for February 1970.
The same PIB announces four new wide body side tape stripes. These are the extremely rare strobe stripes.

@1970 cuda Joe The V4M - Pink Daylight Fluorescent (FM3 exterior paint only) or V4X - Black strobe stripes would be a cool addition on your car.

1970 cuda Joe

I might've been temped to go with V5X but the car was already painted & striped when I got it. It was painted & striped almost 15 years ago & just sat in a shop in Harvard IL before I bought it. It was stripped of all the wheel lip chrome, rocker molding, emblem, hood pins, fender tag & road lamps. Here's what it looks like today. Not crazy about the wing but it's growing on me. Car was originally light green metalic with a vinyl top. Factory BS23H0B. Might put a 340 back in it some day. Thank you, Joe

BluRaySRT

If you are going for originality:
-  All clamps on heater and radiator hoses incorrect,  Should be the pinch type
-  Missing support bracket on engine for the heater hoses
-  Spark plug wire looms

MoparCarGuy

Joe,
The 1970 V5X in Black is a "Protective Vinyl Body Side Moulding" that is stuck on with double-side tape with adhesive. For Barracuda/Cuda, it is outlined with a pinstripe to match the vinyl. There were five colors, Green, Blue, Red (see pic), Black, and White.
Is that what you were considering?

1970 cuda Joe

It might've been an option if I was starting from scratch. I'm not doing that. I think it's different & I've seen more than a few fender tags with that option but not the moldings. I'm not building anymore cars. that's why I bought this one "as is".....mostly.
