Where did you find your first E-Body?

70/6chall

Thanks guys!, appreciate all the thumbs up, on my /6, 70 challenger, wanted to clear up from 1973-2008 mechanical repairs had to be made ( nothing lasts forever, especially when it's abused daily ).So (3) engines, (2) trans and (2) rear ends. That's where 562K miles comes from.Now the last engine that has 125K miles on it installed in '97, actually I purchased it from the same Dodge dealership I originally purchased the car from. I told them I wanted a /6 engine that had never been in a car. So they found, in a warehouse in middle America, a '77 model engine slated for a military vehicle ,I'm in SoCal, I bought that long block from a Dodge dealership for $900. Crate motor SL6, maybe!!??

Al - you have some other interesting info on yours ..... something about WSS ........ folks here would love the story. :)

1986 in the side yard of a cable customer that I had a disconnect work order for non-payment.
She paid her bill and sold me her 72 Baby Blue with B5 blue interior 318 auto console car for $500
Had tall grass growing up around it. She got everything in her Divorce, Cars, Boat and House. Offered the car to me for $300 but later raised the price to $500 after she talked to her ex.
I got my current E-Body locally too. Found it in Auto-Trader in 1987 for $5700 in very rough shape but no rust. No top, original 340 gone, but had a 440 with tunnel ram and 3 holly 2 barrels on top.
13.5:1 compression and 4.56:1 8-3/4 sure grip. Sold new in Seattle at SL Savage and always remained a local car. The original owner still has all the paper work, bill of sale, spare tire and other item but won't part with them. I haven't given up though.
We run into each other from time to time at Friday Night cruise ins. He has some crazy idea that he'll buy the car from me one of these days.
Plan to offer him a few bucks and first right of refusal to buy it if I ever sell just so the documentation will be with the car.
One day I will search in earnest for the original 340. May be sitting in someones shed or garage just taking up space...
Oh well, it would be cool but not that big a deal to me. It's just wrong to not put the documents with the car.

1979...fell in love  :inlove: with an Autumn Bronze 71 Cuda I saw in a car magazine.  1980...Saw an Orange 71 Cuda in a mall parking lot, first one I had ever seen in person.  :unbelievable:  I walked over to it, and it had a "For Sale" sign on the dash.  I quickly ran to write the number down, and seconds after I got the number and walked away, it was gone.  I called the number, and struck a deal!  Did a lot of work to that car and learned a lot too.  Sold it unfortunately, but never fell out of love.

Here is a thought on the original paperwork. Sounds like he is not ready to let it go just yet, but how about seeing if you toss him a 20 and see if he would make copies for you. Not as good as the real thing, but gets you that much closer.  :alan2cents:

My first car was a 1972 Challenger purchased in high school right after I got my drive license. 318 AT Gold with a white top, air conditioning, flat hood, sport mirror, remote hood release. Tiny rust spots outside due to neglect by previous owner but pristine interior except one crack on the dash pad by the center speaker. Found it on newspaper with 42k miles and paid $1050 for it with the help from my father. Car was originally purchased new by an old lady and when she passed she willed it to her friend that sold it to me. It was a fun car with lots of memories hanging out with friends and cruising around.  Most of my friends drove Mopars back then, 73 , 70 Barracudas, 69 Charger, 73 Challenger, Roadrunners, Scamp and a Polara but no A bodies.

Went to look at a friend's 67 RS/SS (gasp!) and bought his Challenger instead.   :banana:

Online forum . . . guy originally posted it for sale and then started taking additional pictures for people who were interested and then decided that he just couldn't do it . . . three years later, I happen to come across the post searching for a '71 Cuda project for sale and just out of curiosity, contact the seller whom still had the car in the same condition. 
After talking for several weeks, we came to terms and home with me she came.

I purchased the car in February of 2015.

1984 I noticed while doing my paper route after school one day. this green dodge 2 houses down from mine. every time I went passed it. It grew on me. 1985 came around and I approached the wife that turns out hated that car. A F8 1973 Challenger 318 F8 interior.
So I asked how much and she came back with make me an offer.  I said 400 and she laughed and said no way. I was shocked and saddened cause that's all I had. She looked at the car and me and said no way that's too much for the piece of crap. I was like whaaattt.
So I offered up 200. same answer, too much for that pos. Then I figured hey. So I said 40.00. she looked at me and said wait a minute and went back in side. She came out and said she called her husband and he said get it out of the drive way. 2 hours later when my pops came home. i told him and he was cool with it. He had a 78 NY brougham 4dr. took that down the street with a big ass chain and yanked it out of there yard. Rolled it down 2 house and pushed it up into the garage. I drove this until 1988 and then dis mantled it for a full resto. and boy at that time there were no repo parts that I could find, Except I found Joel from metro parts co. one year at the nats and bought his new product. the upper grille molding. so since then came 4 challenger parts cars. 71 challenger rt, 70 road runner, 71 barracuda, 70 rt/se challenger.
