When I turned 16 I had the brilliant idea that a T/A Challenger or AAR cuda would be the perfect car.

Your first car was a T/A?  Nothing like setting the bar pretty high for any of your other cars.  Glad to hear your still have it!   :bravo:

My first e body came to me at work one day. The day before a co-worker said his brother in law wished to sell his Charger as he was now scared of the car after a high speed spin out that rested a fender around a telephone poll. I told him I would look at it even though I had a b body '69 Roadrunner already and did not know what I would do with another b body. The next morning he showed up with a '72 Challenger in Petty blue with a 440 Magnum, auto. The price was right and I went right to the bank and got the money and bought it. I had that car for about 21 years until I sold it to the owner who had it as his first high school car. I had already replaced all the metal in the rear starting a restoration of the rust that had made it unsafe. He replaced it with a 90%rust free car but it was a shell. That is the car I am working on now. I have a nearly complete rust bucket '72 Challenger for parts.

:inlove:  Oh man, that looks good!  What color is it?
It's E5 which I guess is a little hard to tell from that vintage photograph!
With spring approaching I am reminded I have a long list of chores to do on it to truly "finish" it.  It has around 1 mile on the odometer since getting it done enough to debut at MCACN last November....
Here is an article and more pictures another Mopar Cody published recently-

Growing older is mandatory...growing up is optional.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Our first e-body was a new '70 340 Cuda automatic; my wife's first new car. We sold it in 1975.  In 1997, I found my current e-body, a 70 Challenger 440 with auto; installed a Tremec 5 speed with overdrive this past December.

Here's the AAR after he finished it. The restoration was done by one person in a single bay garage in FL. I think that it came out great!

Wow that looks great!

My first e-body story isn't all that grand. I found it on Bisman (a local for sale site) and drug my feet on it. A coworker went and picked it up. I went to his garage and he saw the look in my eyes and had to sell it to me. I could care less that it was a BH car or a 318 car. And I probably paid too much for it, but it is in my garage now so.....

Instead the story that is better is my first E-body experience. I was 7 years old and a new neighbor moved in. 1993 was the year, I went outside because I saw they had a son about my age, and in the driveway was the most awesome car that I had ever seen! I loved that thing! My dad (body and fender man) told me I didn't want one of those rust bucket POS's, but I had to have one.

Looking back on it now that car was a huge POS. we went to the movie theater and I opened the door and took the handle and half the door panel off with it.....
it was a typical grey primer with bits of color showing through. cracked up windows, mirrors barely hanging on the doors. just terrible, but I still loved that thing.

funny story about it is my family didn't have a ton of money growing up. But these people got in trouble with the law and had to leave fast. He approached my mother and asked her if she wanted to buy it for me, now 8, for $50. She of course said yes, but another neighbor intercepted him on his way over with the title and told him that the car was easily worth 1500-2000 and he was willing to buy it for that. Randy agreed but the other neighbor never came through. Car was impounded and eventually crushed because they couldn't take it with them.

1979, a -70 Cuda. In an underground garage, a shady used car dealer. I traded in my 1961 Impala for it. Paid about 1500 and my Impala. I was 19, car was just 9 years old. I know where it is now, it has not been on the road since 1983. One day I'm gonna call the owner up and make an offer. When I have some cash in my pocket. ...

Bought my first one in 96. Loved them as a kid on. Got this bad boy from a car show. I miss it very much and wish I never sold it.

I remember the first E-body that I recall seeing. It was November 1969, I was 13 years old and delivering newspapers, it was snowing at the time and there was probably about 1 or 2 feet of snow on the ground.
I was just heading down the driveway to deliver papers and a new car goes by. Nothing special just a Vitamin C, 440+6, 4 speed, shaker Cuda. I look back now and I just can't believe I was lucky enough to see these cars used as everyday cars when new. I loved checking that car out whenever it was in the guys driveway, it had rallye gauges, burnt orange interior and E60X15's on it. I remember it like it was yesterday. Last time I seen it was about 1974 in Edson Alberta, I bet it is dead now but it was a beauty when new.
