I found my 70 Challenger on ebay but I didnt bid on it did not met reserve. Then later I saw the same car on Craigslist. He was asking a unbelievable amount, So in the end I got it.
Get in, I'll drive

Back in March of 1972, my stepfather and mother went car shopping.
They were car shopping at Normandin's Chrysler Plymouth.

During a work week about March or April, I was in the garage at the age of 12.
They drove up into the garage that evening with what I didn't know later would become my car.

I remember that day clearly since the Snake Cuda Hotwheels car was one of my favorite in my collection.

This is the oldest picture so far found of it back around 1979.

1999 I found my first Challenger (FE5, D32, 440) via Hemmings Motor News at Bob West Muscle Cars in Texas.

61K T/A

The Want Ad Press. I bought my T/A instead of a Hemi Cuda convertible with a knock. The Cuda ad was underneath the T/A ad. The knock scared me away.

303 Mopar

Not counting my first Mopar ('77 Jeep CJ-7 bought in 1984), found my '71 Challenger in Texas.  I had it inspected and the report came back with "minor rust but overall a good solid car."  This was the remains of the trunk pan under the roofing material.  Lesson learned to never buy a car without you or someone you trust getting eyes on it.

MEK-Dangerous

The year was 2000. I found my car online at a classic car stealership in Florida.

It was shipped up here. I drove it about 1/2 a mile before it died. Thus my entry into the field of being a mechanic.   :(

Long story short, the car obviously sat for years. The biggest(but not only) problems were with the fuel system. I had to replace everything from the gas tank forward. Even the push rod for the fuel pump was worn in the 440. And this was a rebuilt engine?

With how many E-Bodies have been sold on eBay I expected a lot more to have come from there.

I found my first Cuda on Moparts.  After running ads and looking for an E-Body I saw the post go up for a real Six Pack Cuda and within minutes was on the phone with a guy named Mike.  Closed the deal and bought a 1970 440+6 4 Speed FE5 Shaker Cuda.  Really super solid car.  Sold it later to a friend of @Chryco Psycho and he still has it today.

That last shot is a cool picture. Riding off into the sunset!

RUNCHARGER

I traded a 69 Formula S, 340, 4 speed for a 71 R/T, B5, black vinyl, black and white cloth interior, 383, 4 speed a friend had. The year was 1979, no internet back then. Last time I seen it was about 1982 in the JY, I still have the rear swaybar I pulled out of it.

Found my latest out of Florida and it might as well have been in a swamp as I had to replace so much metal.

In the end it was all worth it since I know exactly how the Cuda was built.

Was your challenger (JS23U0) and a super trac pack car (4.10 dana rear)?  I had one that Bob sold on consignment for me around that time frame it went to Germany?
