Hope this is the right place to ask... *newbie*
Last year I bought a '73 'Cuda, but I'm still pretty new to the 'Cuda Mopar scene but have been searching for a affordable 70 or 71. I came across this offering. I was wondering if I could get some feedback and fender tag decoding? Opinions? Good price for an automatic, No AC, small block? Ad reads:
"Original Matching #s 340 4 barrel, 727 torqueflite automatic with console and slapstick shifter. Factory N96 shaker hood, V6X black billboard, A22 F&R Elastomeric bumpers. So many options has 2 data plates. $58500"

Welcome Steve...
First "red flag" is the fact that it's too cheap. If is was a legit car with those options it would be closer to $80K.....I'm not saying it's fake, I'm saying it needs to be carefully inspected and given more scrutiny because of the claims.

Reproduction fender tags are easily purchased so you would want to know if an original broadcast sheet exists, is so then you would want to compared all the documentation to the car checking all the VINS etc....

It has had metal replaced at one time as well because the driver's side inner fender is incorrect.

If you could post the pictures here instead of just links it would be better for us to view....

OK I got the fender tag & VIN to come up and work and posted the pics. (still getting used to how this forum works, each is different...) Fake listings USUALLY don't give a phone number, just a encoded email link. When asked questions, he answered. When asked for fender tags and VIN pics, he responded with pics shown. Can you confirm my eyes and say the VIN reads BS23H1B321588?

Usually a fake post has a redirect to another far away place the (imaginary) car sits and an excuse about how he's NOT with, or separated from the car. But you're right, it's the internet and trust is a rare commodity. I will ask to see the car and have it checked out by a Pre-purchase auto service. We'll see the reaction.

You really think a Non-4 speed, Non-AC, small block 1971 is worth $80? This is why I wanted feedback.

Is it possibly priced that low also because the exterior paint is not as good as the pictures show.  The fender tags have a lot of peeling going on as well as that drives inner fender.
I agree with alan, you need to check the car out really good in person.

Deals do exist though so it could be a good score.

I don't think it was a "fake post".....I think it could be a fake car... :alan2cents:

First off  :welcome: From Sylmar, CA
Fully agree with going to check it out in person. Then if you like it make an offer you can live with.

After viewing the fender tag picture, maybe it is just an older restoration and a really good deal ? Go have a close inspection.

How do you mean a fake car? (Why fake a small block, non AC, automatic?)

Ok well, he responded quickly to agree to a Professional Inspection. He gave me his first name and said the car is at a relative's house and to coordinate a time for pro-inspection. He gave a phone number that doesn't google (match) to the name he gave me. Strange.
Honestly I didn't think I would get this far.
Guess I gotta find an inspection service.

I think it's a nice car, just wish it was a manual transmission.

I like it ... it has a lot of great options. High Impact paint, Elastomeric bumpers, Shaker and billboards ... what's not to like?! I was just checking my own bank account to see if I had enough funds to take a run at this one myself.

Looks great in the ad ... but ... there's always a "but" isn't there? I've been "shopping" myself and I have found some cars that I really liked based on how they presented in their ads. I have driven or flown out to places to see them in person ... and ... they never have looked as good in person as they do in their ads. There's always something. Maybe I'm just being too nit-picky? Anyway, I'm still shopping. You need to go see it in person. Looks like you are in Connecticut? Car's in New Hampshire? That's an easy drive. Arrange with the seller to coordinate a garage with a lift, and go see it in person. Look it over front to back, inside, outside, topside and underside. There's nothing like seeing it in person with your own eyes.
Cheers!

Unless you are rich, 60k is a lot of dough, so I agree, check it out and be picky RzeroB, pics can be misleading.

For what it's worth . . . when I was shopping for my car, I had several people send me proof that the car really did exist before I spend money to go and check it out in person . . .  :alan2cents:

Interesting, how did you go about that?
