For what it's worth . . . when I was shopping for my car, I had several people send me proof that the car really did exist before I spend money to go and check it out in person . . .  :alan2cents:

Interesting, how did you go about that?

While it may be just me, I have actually ran into several people (for whatever reason) expecting me to spend my time and money to come and look at a car that does not exist.  I have had individuals take a 20 second video of the car with the current days newspaper or just simply say on the video what the current date is . . . I once had a guy write my name on a piece of paper and take a picture of the piece of paper sitting on the car . . . whatever it takes to prove that I am not going to be wasting my time and money to come and see a car that does not exist.

Good idea. I was thinking of asking him to put a ketchup bottle on the hood and send me the picture.

Well interesting day.  :thinking:The posting is gone. But reappeared again as a new posting posted 10 hrs ago.
When I just emailed the guy (he gave me an email address), that I was still trying to find an inspection service... so far, no response.

If I may offer my  :alan2cents:

From your earlier posts it sounded like you connected with the seller. That's great! Scammers don't put a name and phone number in their ads. Scammers typically use an anonymous response so that they can "pharm" your email address and other stuff in an effort to gain personal information about you. Based on what I've seen and what you posted, it seems like a very legit ad to me.

As far as not wasting your time because of your suspicions ... it's "qid-pro-quo" in that the seller doesn't want to waste his time either. Both of you are doing "the dance" right now, If you really like it, make the first move, cause we all know if we hesitate too long, someone else is going to swoop in there and grab it.

It looks like it's only a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive away. I really like that car, it has some great options. So if it was me, since it is so relatively close, I would go up there ASAP and look at it myself with my own eyeballs. Like I said earlier, have him arrange for someplace with a lift so you can put it up and take a good look at the underside too. If you like it and want to buy it, put a deposit down on in with the sale contingent upon a professional inspection to be completed later.

If it was me, I'd be arranging to go to New Hampshire. The worst that can happen is that you spent some gas money driving there and back in half a day. It's your move Steve ...
Cheers!
Tom

Tis' better to have owned classic Mopars and lost than to have never owned at all (apologies to Alfred Lord Tennyson)

Unfortunately: I think the only way to find out what you are looking at is to look at it. It could be a legit car that has aged a bit, or it could be a Cuda with lots of options added. The fender tags wouldn't be enough to convince me it came that way from the factory.

Dang, that's some good advice.

I haven't seen your Cuda out on the road yet. You may have seen my Challenger that I sold last year. I owned it since 2005.

Point taken. Thanks.

I posted this car last week as soon as I saw it and have told a couple of local friends about it. I'm very surprised it's still around. If you want it you'd better drive up there. I know a couple of guys that have talked to him already and I'm really surprised at least one of my friends hasn't already bought it.

My schedule doesn't allow for me to get there any time soon. Plus the sale of my Corvette which I thought was certain, fell through. Just isn't in the cards right now.

Depending on where the car is up here in NH, I would offer the use of my lift in my garage.  You would have to get the guy to bring it here and meet obviously.  Unfortunately, I don't have near the funds available to buy the car myself.  Although the shaker seems low to me.
