4 speed hurst shifter issue

Guys,

I am having an issue with the Hurst shifter on my 4 speed being completely locked up. I cannot move it into neutral or into any gears. The car is in the process of being reassembled.
- Transmission, clutch, shifter, linkage is all new or rebuilt.
- The shift rods were assembled as shown in the first couple photos. I adjusted the rods according to the F.S.M. using the alignment pin method.
- After the shifter failed to move, I unhooked the 1-2 and 3-4 rods off the levers to see if the levers would move. The levers engage all three positions 1-N-2 and 3-N-4, reverse also appears to move ok.
- With the rods removed from the transmission levers, I tried moving the rods back and forth. The reverse and 3-4 rod moves back and forth ok, but the 1-2 rod appears to be contacting the edge of the floor (pics 3-5).This is a replacement floor so I'm not sure if this is the issue or not.

My questions are
1. Do the shift rods appear to be hooked up properly. Does anything look suspect with the shifter levers or how the rods attach to them?
2. How close does the 1-2 rod typically get to the edge of the sheetmetal? This appears to be part of the issue that is causing the binding and I may need to trim the area near the rod. How much clearance did the factory leave between the floor and rod, was it tight like this one?

None of the 4 speed Cudas I've got have exhibited sheet metal interference even after conversion to 4 speed with new sheet metal. I checked the clearance in one of them just now. It's about 1 inch.
It looks like your reverse lever is 180deg out of phase.
Do you have the correct shim in the transmission mount?

Is this a Std 4spd or an OD unit? If it's an OD, one of the rods contacts the sheet metal and has to be cut/lengthened/bent at a certain spot/angle + the lever reversed

I'm not sure that I have any shims in the mount, can you show me what you are referring to?

You might be onto something. Are you referring to these shims? When I installed the mount, I did not notice the location of these shims and it appears I should reverse them which would push trans up and maybe provide enough clearance?

No. As far as I know your picture shows metal plates called "spacers" and are installed as you have done for the bolt going through an oval slot similar to a custom washer.  I have however seen very thin shims (one piece) placed between the mount and the transmission. If you do this its probably good to ensure no issue with fan/radiator clearance. I also don't think the FSM calls out shims between the mount and transmission. So this may be just a car guy hack trying to solve an issue they have experienced.

Per the service manual you have the spacers correct, they appear to be more of a backing plate to help support the bolt head against the transmission mount in this application.

It's difficult to say from looking at the pictures, but it looks like the middle lever in the shifter mechanism is considerably longer than the outside lever.  Here is a  picture from Brewer's, both the outer and the middle are nearly the same (reference the holes).  That being said, the middle lever is slightly longer than the outer lever.

Shouldn't the floor pan section be contoured to fit the torsion bar crossmember closer?  It looks like it is up away from it in this picture.

Probably so. I will probably just make a small relief cut to allow the rod a little more clearance.
