Is he really asking 40k for a 6 cylinder shell?

Yeah, not sure how he arrived at that price, guess you can always go down.

The Challenger looks to be in great shape body wise.  If you had to repair a shell due to rust, that is an expensive part of any resto job. Starting w a clean body shell is a definite advantage. Nice basis for a project/restomod car with the stick shift set up and a dana rear; $40 k is pushing it though.  More like a $20-25K project start. IMO

I wouldn't even go that high unless there were other perks like a rebuilt motor being thrown in. I just sold a real numbers matching four speed RT with all metal work done, rebuilt motor, new interior, perfect running condition and got 26k for it only a few months ago. And other Mopar guys applauded at my getting so much. I'd put this car in the 15-20k range personally unless it comes with other stuff not mentioned or has other exceptional work done.

If I were a serious buyer, I'd skip right past it and never reach out. I see an ad like that and it screams, "I got something really special here and I know it. Be prepared to pay big for this car." What's the point of even talking to someone that far out of reach? I'd be wasting my time.

What's the value on Camaro mirrors these days? $25k for the pair?

Possibly more if it has the rare pitting and wear patina.

His price is very optimistic, But I saw on TV, the Barrett-Jackson auction, where a 1970 Challenger sold for $200K, so this one seems like a bargain

As many of you know I've been looking for a 70 challenger donor car.
this one has been for sale since I've been looking, Since October of last year.
It's not going anywhere anytime soon.  Maybe that's why it's been in the same family for 50 years.

I agree with the above "pass right over" statement.  I wouldn't even waste my time asking about the car.  No way he's gonna come down to the 15 it's worth.  So what, it's got a shaker.
